Columbiana – It is with love that the family of Dorothy McCamon announces that she joined her beloved husband, Myron in Heaven on December 22, 2013.
Dorothy was the daughter of Donald and Zella (Thomas) Dickey and the sister of the late Earl and Allen Dickey. Dorothy and Myron were married on August 28, 1948.
Even though Dorothy earned her Registered Nursing Degree, she found her true calling as a wife, mother, homemaker, and grandmother.
She was a member of the Columbiana County Historical Society; the Columbiana County Homemaker’s Association; the Rural Carriers Auxiliary, and was a faithful member of the Elkton Methodist Church.
Dorothy worked magic in her kitchen. Her cooking and baking were enjoyed by everyone who knew her. When entering the baking category at the Columbiana County Fair, she captured the Best of Show Award for her extraordinary white cake. Dorothy was also an avid seamstress and took great pride in her abilities in the home.
During their 55 years together on their Cream Ridge Road farm, they welcomed their children; Sherry (the late Wayne Seachrist), Gary (Nancy) McCamon, and Janie (David) Gildersleeve. Over the years, Dorothy also enjoyed her six grandchildren, Mason Seachrist, Kurt Seachrist, Ryan McCamon, Kristi Valentine, Justin Kale and Amanda Sadlier. The family circle was further rounded out by the great grandchildren, Grant and Trevor Seachrist, Ace Valentine, Brynn and Rylie McCamon, Madeleine Sadlier, Laila Kale and Beathan Bowlby.
Dorothy will be missed by many; however, her love and care for her family and friends will remain for a lifetime.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Dorothy’s memory to the favorite organization or charity of the donor’s choice.
The Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home assisted the family with her arrangements.
