East Palestine, Ohio – Charles “Lindy” Cyrus, 85, of West High Street, passed away 8:55 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at Covington Community Campus.
Lindy was born December 20, 1927 in New Middletown, a son of the late Grover and Elma Raub Cyrus and had been a life-long resident.
He was a self-employed carpenter retiring in the late 1990’s.
He was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church of East Palestine, the Alibi Hunting Club, and a former East Palestine Park board member.
Lindy is survived by his wife, the former Wilma Saviers, whom he married April 18, 1952. He is also survived by two sons, Charles Cyrus of Mt. Jackson, PA and Lee Cyrus of East Palestine; a daughter, Barbara Greaves of East Palestine; nine grandchildren, Brandon Cyrus, Blake Cyrus, Zachary Cyrus, Casey Cyrus, Karlie Cyrus Jackson, Gregory Cyrus, Mitchell Cyrus, Scott Greaves and Matthew Greaves; and nine great grandchildren. Three sisters, Twila Bacon of Tiffin, Doris Rice of New Middletown, and Esther Pollock of Hanoverton also survive him.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister.
Friends will be received from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. (Friday) today at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Centenary United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery.
