Laura Barnes

Lisbon- Laura A. Barnes, 44, of Eric Drive, passed away unexpectedly Monday, October 7, 2013 at her home.

Laura was born November 9, 1968 in Cheverly, Maryland, the daughter of the late Gary Lee Barnes and Susan Louise (Gongaware) Barnes-Conaway.

She moved back to the East Liverpool area in 1971 from Maryland, and then to the Lisbon area in 1977.

A 1987 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, Laura also attended Ohio Valley Technical College for 2 years in computer studies. She had worked as a waitress at the Columbiana American Legion, as a clerk at the Leetonia State Store, and as a sales consultant at the Sleepy Hollow Store in Alliance.

She was Lutheran by baptism and was a member of the Leetonia VFW #5532 ladies auxiliary and a former member of the Eagles. Laura also was an avid Steelers Fan, enjoyed playing softball and other sports, and loved to travel when she was younger.

She is survived and will be dearly missed by her mom and dad, Susan L. and Bruce L. Conaway of Lisbon; daughter, Lindsay L. Keating of Lisbon; long time companion and soul mate, Jeff Keating of Lisbon; brother, Lance B. Conaway of Lisbon; granddaughter, Adalynn M. Ours of Lisbon; Uncle Glenn and Aunt Alyce Barnes of East Liverpool and Uncle Lawrence Gongaware of Wintersville, Ohio.

Laura was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Gongaware and Mr. and Mrs. James Barnes; Uncles, Russell Gongaware and Robert Barnes; and Aunt Frances Barnes.

Funeral services will be held at 3pm, Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Edwards officiating.

The family will receive friends from noon until the time of services Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of other remembrances, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Columbiana County Humane Society, P.O. Box 101, Salem, Ohio 44460.
