HAMMONDSVILLE – Lonie C. Cronin, 76, of Hammondsville, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at East Liverpool City Hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was born April 17, 1937, on Pine Grove Ridge in Hammondsville, the son of the late George and Roxie (Howell) Cronin.
Lonie was employed for twenty-seven years as a brick wheeler for McLain Brickyard, before retiring in 1982. He was also employed as a forklift operator for DeNoon Lumber, retiring in 2000. Lonie was a former township trustee for Brush Creek, and he attended Pine Grove United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Ann (Mobley) Cronin, whom he married July 19, 1957; three daughters: Brenda Thomas and her husband John of Hammondsville, Christina Drake and her husband Thomas of Orient, OH, and Joy Cronin of Columbus; two sons: Lonie Cronin, Jr. and his wife Denise of Salineville, and Keith Cronin of Hammondsville; two sisters: Phemie Tullis (Larry) of Hammondsville, and Shirley Downard (Richard) of Island Creek; and three brothers: Clarence Cronin of Hammondsville, Robert Cronin (Flo) of Richmond, and Barry Cronin (Barbara) of Salineville. Also surviving are six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Lonie was preceded in death by one son: Leonard Ray Cronin; one sister: Paullette Patterson; and one brother: Ellis “Bud” Cronin.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 14, 2013, at the Pine Grove United Methodist Church, 19 County Road 72 in Hammondsville, with Pastors Jim Wilson, Mike Dyer, and Susan Clegg officiating.
Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
