East Palestine, Ohio – Dorothy Thompson Gibson, 89, of East Martin Street, passed away 3:58 a.m. Monday, September 23, 2013, at Salem Community Hospital where she had been a patient for the past four days.
She was a member of the East Palestine Town and Country Garden Club.
Dorothy was born August 31, 1924 in East Palestine, a daughter of the late Paul and Catherine Macek Taucher and had been a life long resident of East Palestine.
She had been employed by the former W.S. George Pottery at one time and later with the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1506.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Edward Thompson and H. Allen Gibson. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Stanley, William and Joseph Taucher; and six sisters, Catherine Ellingsworth, Mary Ulbrich, Frances Hull, Virginia Britton, Jennie Jurjavcic, and her twin-Helen Gibson.
Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Nancy Shimer of East Palestine; four sons, Terry L. (Sherry)Thompson of Dallas, TX, Joseph A. (Jeanette) Thompson, Daniel L. Thompson and Mark A. Thompson all of East Palestine; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a sister, Christine Kochevar of East Palestine.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home 7:30 p.m. Friday, September 27th, with Bob Taucher officiating. Friends will be received from 7:00 – 7:30 p.m.
