Rudolph Sacchet

Rudolph “Rudy” Sacchet, son of the late Angelo and Anna Maria Cossalter Sacchet of Fara di Fe’ftre, Italy.

Rudy was born June 5, 1923 in Monongahela, PA and grew up in Negley, Ohio. He recently lived in Columbiana, OH until passing August 13, 2013 at age 90 at the Meadows in East Palestine.

Rudy was a U.S. Army veteran serving as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corp in the South Pacific during WWII. He received many victory medals and 3 bronze stars.

He worked as a heavy equipment operator until retiring in 1987.

Rudy is survived by his wife, the former Joan Ernst; three daughters, Jo Sacchet, Dee Sacchet and Becky Grace, all of Allentown, Pa.; three grandchildren, Brian, Jodi and Kristi; five great grandchildren; two special nieces, Pam Crawford and Janice Costanzo, as well as many other nieces and nephews and close friends, Kevin, Frank, Jack, and Andy.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Irene Guerri, June Mirro, Diane Mackall, and Alvie Sacchet; a brother, Louie Sacchet; and grandson, Brad Evans.

Upon retiring, Rudy took great pride in woodworking. He made many clocks, tables, shelves, and other beautifully carved items, which he enjoyed giving to family and friends. Rudy lived a full life and touched many.


Rudolph Sacchet

East Palestine – Rudolph Sacchet, 90, formerly of Columbiana died at 5:40 am Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at the Meadows in East Palestine.

Mr. Sacchet was born June 5, 1923 in Mononghelia, PA, a son of Angelo and Anna Marie Cossalter Sacchet and had lived in this area most of his life.

Rudy was a heavy equipment operator of the East Fairfield Coal Company for ten years retiring in 1987. He served in the US Army during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, the former Joan Ernst, whom he married July 29, 1972; three daughters, JoAnn Sacchet and Rebecca Grace both of Allentown, PA and Rhudell “Dee” Sacchet of Orefield, PA; and a sister in law, Alice Nicols of Boardman.

No services are being observed.
