Opal Martin

Opal Lauvalta Martin, age 75, of Salem, died at 12:50 a.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Boardman.

She was born April 1, 1938 in Meadowbrook, West Virginia, daughter of Ben and Ruby (Apperson) McCauley.

Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and worked with the family business. She was a member of the Realife Church and the Christian Women’s Association. She enjoyed baking and cooking and loved her family and the church.

Her husband, Donald A. Martin, survives her along with two daughters, Pam (Vincent) Sanchez of Columbiana and Deanna Gleckler of Salem; a son, Rodney (Rhonda) Martin of Massillon; six grandchildren, Shaun (Mandi) Gleckler, Jessica (Sean Stillion) Gleckler, Cari (Philip) Sanchez-Potter, Paisley Martin, Paden Martin and Brandon Rossi; two great-grandchildren, Austin Gleckler and Morgan Gleckler; nine brothers and sisters, Ruby Moyer, Ben (Lavon) McCauley, William (Patti) McCauley, Mary Ellen Gerwig, Christine (Elmer) Gaines, Gary Ray (Marge) McCauley, Avon Neil McCauley, Charlotte Thomas and Charles Willard McCauley; and many nieces and nieces.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Janice Luciano and Phyllis Jean Long.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Realife Church with Pastor Jason Vickery officiating. Calling Hours will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church prior to the services.
