Calcutta, Ohio – Ruth Esther Diddle, 89 of Calcutta passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 9:00 p.m. at the Mt. Carmel St. Ann Hospital in Westerville, Ohio following a brief illness.
Born February 5, 1924 in East Liverpool, she was a daughter of the late John and Grace Plankinton Paul.
A lifetime area resident, she retired from the Robert Bycroft School in 2001 after 40 years of service to the students of that institution.
A member of the First Free Methodist Church in East Liverpool, she attended to the infants and toddlers in the nursery for many of her earlier years.
Her husband, Ray E. Diddle, whom she married July 17, 1945, passed away earlier this year on February 4th. In addition, she was also preceded in death by two sons, Roger Diddle and Bruce Diddle, as well as two brothers, Jack and James Paul.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Czeh, and her husband Richard, of Columbus, Ohio; and one son, Jeff Diddle, and his wife Cathy, of East Liverpool. There are ten grandchildren.
Friends may visit the family at the Dawson Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Reverend Steve Forsythe of the church will conduct a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Family and friends will gather at the First Free Methodist Church immediately following the service.
