WELLSVILLE – Don French, 67 of Wellsville, Ohio died suddenly on Friday, July 26, 2013. He was born in East Liverpool, OH on May 19, 1946 and was a son of the late Donald J. “Pickle” and Catherine E. (Taggart) French.
Living his entire life in this area, he was owner operator of Don’s Service in Wellsville where he had worked since he was 13 years old. He was a 1966 graduate of Wellsville High School, was a member of the VFW Post 5647 and the American Legion Post 70 in Wellsville. During the Tet offensive Don served with the US Army in Vietnam.
His wife of almost 45 years, Sherrie L. (Beck) French survives him at home. They were married on November 29, 1968.
Also surviving him is his niece: Nancy Dawn Goydich and her husband George of Chester, WV; his two great nieces: Maggie Kaye Skinner of Wellsville and McKenzie Jean Goydich of Chester, WV; his aunt: Connie Bauer and her husband Ed of Wellsville and an additional niece: Lori Whittington of Wellsville as well as his faithful companions: Zoey and Allie.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother: Richard E. French and one sister: Cathy J. French.
Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Richard Hasely of Scott United Methodist Church in Cadiz officiating and where the Tri State Burial Group will accord military honors.
The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Calcutta on Monday, July 29, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
