Salem – Mrs. Violet L. Bowman, 88, of Mountz Road passed away at 9:50 a.m. Saturday, June 8th at her residence.
Violet was born November 11, 1924 in Lisbon, a daughter of the late Thomas and Flossie Bell McGeehen, and was a life resident of the area. She had attended business college, and had been employed with Wright-Patterson, Dayton, and retired from Warren Molding Plastics in 1987.
She was a member of the New Garden United Methodist Church, the Hanoverton Town & Country Garden Club, and the Farm Bureau.
Her husband, Franklin G. Bowman, preceded her in death on March 18, 2009.
She is survived by nine children; James, George, David, D. Paul, Larry, June, Patricia, Mary, and Karen; twenty seven grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Helen Sokoloss and a brother, John McGeehen.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home, Lisbon, with Pastor Ted Ludwig of the Bethel United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the time of service at the funeral home.
