Salineville – John D. Brown , 74, of Hazel Run Road passed away early Saturday morning at his home with his family present.
John was born May 14, 1939 in Monroe County, Ohio, a son of the late William and Guyola Hill Brown.
John lived most of his life in the Salineville area. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Sterling China as a pottery worker. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being with his “Queenie”. He was a true outdoorsman.
John will be sadly missed by his daughter, Teresa (Michael) Tice of Cleveland; four step children, Vicki McCauley, John Halfhill, Tim Halfhill, Pam Halfhill; one brother, Samuel Brown of WVa.; three sisters, Dorothy Bardo of Salineville, Ella (Donald) Boyd of South Carolina, Marlene Young of Arkansas, Louise Wellman of Lisbon; MaryLou Halfhill of Wellsville; one granddaughter, Brooke Tice; six step grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren and many, many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents John was preceded in death by two brothers; Maxwell Melott, Charles Brown and one sister, Delphia Dickson.
A service will be held Monday July 1, 2013 at 6:00 PM at the Kerr-Pastore Funeral Home in Salineville, with Pastor Chester Miller officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the Salineville John Adams Post 442 American Legion Honor Guard.
