COLUMBIANA – Catherine “Kit” Schlag, 86, of 937 E. Park Ave. in Columbiana, passed away Sunday evening at St. Mary’s Alzheimer’s Center, where she had resided since January.
Catherine was born on May 8, 1927 in Beaver, Pa., the daughter of G. Harry and Grace (Kibler) Ward, and relocated to the area as a child with her family.
A 1945 graduate of Columbiana High School, she retired as an office manager, a position which she held for 21 years, from the Harold Lower Nationwide Insurance Co. in 1985.
Catherine was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Post 290 Auxiliary in Columbiana.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her husband, Waldo, whom she married Dec. 18, 1946; a daughter, Lana (Terry) Dobson of New Middletown; a son, Gary Schlag of Wallace, W. Va.; three grandchildren, Taryn Dobson of Poland, and Chase and Dane Dobson of New Middletown; and a great-grandson, Parker Dobson.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 28 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm St., Columbiana, with Pastor Ken Rambo officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
