COLUMBIANA – Lenore B. Hoffman, 94, of Columbiana, passed away Thursday afternoon at Parkside Health Care Center.
She was born on Aug. 3, 1919 in East Palestine, the daughter of Frank and Laura (Cover) Uselton, and was a longtime resident of Columbiana.
A graduate of Columbiana High School, Lenore married Joe A. Hoffman on Sept. 21, 1940. Together they sold life and health insurance for many years, followed by a successful wood-burning stove business in retirement. Both were avid gardeners, golfers and musicians, including participation in “The Moonlighters” dance band which performed at weddings and clubs around the Columbiana county area.
Lenore was a devoted member of Columbiana First Christian Church, and later Zion Hill Church of the Brethren in Columbiana. She was active in Columbiana BPW Club, Garden Club, and the Fairfield Ruritan.
Lenore leaves to cherish her memory her three children, Alan Hoffman (wife Marlene) of Bridgeville, Pa., Nancy Downhour (husband Warren) of Peoria, Ariz., and Brad Hoffman (wife Michele) of Solon, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe, who passed away Feb. 4, 1996, and two brothers, Olen Uselton of Youngstown and Richard Uselton of Columbiana.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana, 154 S. Elm Street, with Rev. John Bartholomew officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana.
