Gerald Holliday

NORTH CANTON – Gerald J. Holliday, Age 77, of North Canton, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Aultman Compassionate Care Center with his family by his side.

Born September 15, 1935, Youngs-town, Ohio, he grew up in Youngstown, attended Kenyon College, and went on to marry his best friend, Judi Durig in December 1962. Together with their 9-month-old daughter Jenifer (daddy’s little princess), they moved to North Canton to open up the Connecticut General Office. Quickly they became a family of four with the birth of Jeff (daddy’s little Gretzky) in January 1965. He went on to become sales regional manager for Mitchell Manuals was quickly promoted to director of sales and shortly after relocated to LaJolla, Calif., as vice president of sales and marketing.

Jerry and Judi enjoyed their time in Lisbon, Ohio, working on New York Times crossword puzzles and taking on the challenge of handicapping horse races. His favorite race was the Kentucky Derby.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Judith L. Durig Holliday; daughter Jennifer Goad (Todd), Lake Wylie, S.C.; son Jeffrey Holliday, Akron, Ohio; grandchildren Jeffrey Holliday, Emily Goad, Justin Holliday, Natalie Goad; and great-grandson Brody Holliday, Akron, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry J. Holliday and Frances White Holliday, and brother Robert J. Holliday.

A private memorial service will be held for the family Saturday, May 11, 2013. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Aultman Compassionate Center, 2821 Woodlawn Ave, NW Canton, Ohio 44708.
