EAST ROCHESTER – Wanda Sue Pidgeon, 71, of East Rochester, Ohio, passed away at 3:05 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013 with her husband by her side. She was born Dec. 11, 1941 in Salem, the daughter of the late Allen and Lenore (Johnston) Helmick.
Wanda was a 1959 graduate of Greenford High School and had been employed by Church Budget Monthly Mail Company in Salem for many years before retiring in 2006. She was also a lifelong partner with her husband in their dairy, beef and crop farming operations for over 50 years.
Wanda was a kind, gentle person with a great love for her family and her animals and will be greatly missed. During her life, she enjoyed living on their farm, riding horses, reading, swimming, collecting dolls and attending craft shows.
Her loving husband of 51 years, James Holwick Pidgeon, survives her along their children, Kimberly (Joseph) Shipbaugh, Amy (Damon) Deitz, James (Tracie) Pidgeon, and Eric Pidgeon; her sister, Dawn (Helmick) Bare; brother, Elden (Virginia) Helmick; brother-in-laws Barry (Rhonda) Pidgeon and Michael (Brenda) Pidgeon; grandchildren, Carrie (Brock) VanMeter, Joseph Shipbaugh, Erin (Nick) Gotschall, Chevy Deitz, Clay Pidgeon, Jazzlyn Pidgeon, Jadyn Pidgeon and Levi Pidgeon; and 12 nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Stark Memorial Funeral Home. Calling hours will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery.
