Poland – Phyllis Iyone Unger of Columbiana Ohio was greeted by her Lord on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 10:35 pm at the Hospice of the Valley hospice house in Poland, surrounded by her loving family.
She was cherished and loved for 65 years by her husband, Robert Argyle Unger, who survives her.
Phyllis was a prize winning cook and loved to prepare abundant meals for her family. She nurtured and “fussed” over her family and friends. She attended Struthers High School.
Her husband enjoyed her working at his side at Unger and Son Upholstery in New Waterford until their retirement.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Columbiana, Ohio.
Born October 24th, 1927, she was the beautiful daughter of Anna and Roy Johnson.
She is survived by one sister, Joan High, two sons, Robert L. Unger and Daniel J. Unger, six grandchildren, Jenny Unger Stadulis, Kevin Unger, Vicky Unger Snyder, Cristopher Unger, Ryan Unger and Kyle Unger and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was loved and admired by her two daughters-in-law, Ellen McGath Unger and Karen Sargent Unger.
She is preceded in death by her brother’s Roy Noker Johnson, Donald Johnson, Alton Johnson,Paul Johnson, Malvin Johnson, and her sister Jean Gottart.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home at 154 South Elm Street in Columbiana. A service, officiated by Mr. John Reed and Mr. Clarence Mansfield, will follow the viewing. Interment will be held at the New Waterford Cemetery.
