EAST ROCHESTER – Leroy Howard Baker Sr., age 89, of East Rochester, Ohio, passed away Monday, April 8, 2013 at Salem Community Hospital.
Leroy was born May 7, 1923 in Newtown Square, Pa., to Howard Daniel and Luciella (Humphrey) Baker. He was a farmer and lived most of his life in the area. He graduated from Augusta High School.
Leroy belonged to the VFW in North Georgetown. Leroy was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.
He is survived by his loving wife, Edith “Sis” (McNichol) Baker, of the residence, whom he married June 4, 1949. Other survivors are Christine Ann Baker, Leroy H. (Patricia J.) Baker Jr., Linda (Michael) Shannon, Jeffrey A. Baker and Todd D. Baker; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of East Rochester, Ohio.
Preceding him in death was a brother, Jay W. Baker, who passed away in 1939, and a baby sister Jessie.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Grove Hill Cemetery, where military services will be performed by the VFW, DAV and American Legion.
