LISBON – Glen A. Rose, 74, of Adams Road, passed away at 5:45 a.m. Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Salem Community Hospital following a recent illness.
Glen was born Feb. 12, 1939 in Lisbon, a son of the late Fred G. and Helen (Strudthoff) Rose, and was a life resident of the Lisbon area.
He was a graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, where he had been a member of the football team. He had been employed as a heavy equipment operator with Operating Engineers Union Local No. 66 for 40 years, retiring in 2001.
He attended St. Jacob’s United Church of Christ.
A lifelong avid sports fan, Glen also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and after retiring, he enjoyed farming, collecting antiques, and traveling with his wife, Elaine.
Glen is survived by his wife, the former Elaine Abrams, whom he married Dec. 12, 1975; daughter, Kelly (Terry) Lee of McComb, Ohio; sons, Gregory (Lisa) Bender of Wellsville and Scott (Debra Perry) Bender of Rogers; brothers, Dean (Clara) Rose, Jerry Rose, and David (Inez) Rose, all of Lisbon; brother-in-law, Richard (Judy) Abrams of Akron; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Glen was also preceded in death by two infant daughters.
Following Glen’s wishes, private funeral services were held Tuesday at Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Jenna Brown officiating. Burial followed in Lisbon Cemetery.
