EAST LIVERPOOL – Doris M. Kiger, 72 of Pennsylvania Avenue Ext., East Liverpool, OH died on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA after suddenly becoming ill at home. She was born in Canalton, PA on March 2, 1941 and was a daughter of the late Norman and Florence (Gramm) Black.
Living most of her life in this area, she had worked in the deli at Wal-Mart before her retirement in May 2006. Prior to that, she worked at K-Mart and Hall China. Her passion in life was being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Often she could be seen working at the fish fry’s at the SOI in Wellsville.
Her husband, Ralph C. Kiger, whom she married on May 2, 1961 died on December 6, 2006.
Surviving her are her children: John J. Kiger and his wife, Lori and Reanee M. Hrycko and her companion Glenn McClellan all of East Liverpool, OH; one brother: Wallace Black of East Palestine, OH; two sisters: Jean Best of Seward, PA and Deloris Rae of Beaver Falls, PA; six grandchildren: Danielle Kiger and her companion Jason Ashbaugh, Joshua Kiger, Ariana Gooding, Andrew Gooding, Cory Hrycko and his companion Kerri Thomas and Jeremy Hrycko and her great grandson: Haidyn Chevront.
Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by three brothers: Frank Black, Lewis Black and Eugene Black and two brother-in-laws: Joe Kiger and Tom Kiger.
Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Paul Sturm officiating.
Entombment will be in Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell, WV
The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Calcutta on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8PM.
Following services, family and friends will gather for food and fellowship at the SOI in Wellsville, OH.
