Lisbon – Carl W. Rouse, 70, of West Washington Street, passed away at 7am, Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the Hospice House of Poland.
Mr. Rouse was born June 8, 1942 in Lisbon, a son of the late Edgar Milton and Alice Faye (Conn) Rouse, and had lived his entire life in the Lisbon area.
Carl worked for 7 years at the Lisbon Water Department, and later worked for 13 years for the Morning Journal delivering newspapers, until he retired in 2006.
He was an avid fisherman and he loved four wheelers and motorcycles. Carl also enjoyed sitting on his porch, talking to his neighbors, and waving to his many friends as they drove by.
He is survived by his former wife, Vivian Rouse; daughter, Cathy Rouse of Lisbon; son, Bruce W. Gilbert of North Lima; sister, Dolores “Dolly” (Bill) Clay of New Springfield, Ohio; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including his devoted nephew, Howard (Tammy) Cusick of New Springfield, who spend countless hours caring for him over the past few years and his companion, Betty Meeks of Lisbon.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Rouse; son, Michael A. Gilbert; and granddaughter, Kylee Nicole Gilbert
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan Leach officiating. Burial will follow in the Lisbon Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm, Tuesday and 1 hour prior to the services Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the funeral home to help defray Carl’s final expenses.
