EAST LIVERPOOL – Robert Thomas Tittle, 90, formerly of Highland Drive passed away at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013 at the East Liverpool City Hospital following a lengthy illness.
A lifetime area resident, Mr. Tittle was born in East Liverpool on December 13, 1922. He was a son of the late Delbert and Hazel Tittle. Along with his wife, he was part owner and operator of the former Reese Jewelers in downtown East Liverpool until retiring in 1980. Prior to that, he was a propeller inspector for the Curtis Wright Corporation during WWII. During the 1960’s, he made every electrical solder connection in the Mercury Space Capsule for NASA in Florida.
He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church which later became the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in East Liverpool.
Mr. Tittle was preceded in death in 2007 by his wife, Phyllis Eileen Tittle, whom he married August 25, 1946.
Bob is survived by his two sons, Jim Tittle of Lake Tomahawk and Dave Tittle and his wife, Cecilia of Rogers; as well as five grandchildren, Jennifer Goebbel and her husband, Pastor John Goebbel of Coraopolis, PA, Amy Reed and her husband, Brandon of Calcutta, Rachel Tice and her husband, Joe of Marietta, Georgia, Heidi Tittle of California and Adam Tittle of Rogers. There are also two step-grandchildren, Stephanie Curfman and her husband, Steve of Nashville, TN and Tami Paniagua and her husband, Pastor Pedro Paniagua of Warren, Ohio; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Jean Kidd.
Friends may call Monday evening at the Dawson Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Mark Dunn will conduct a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Following the service, family and friends will gather for fellowship at the Dawson Family Center.
