NEW WATERFORD – Richard K. Powers, 60, of My Way Lane, passed away early Monday afternoon, March 4th at the Oakwood Medical Center, Dearborn, MI, shortly after admission.
Mr. Powers was born October 30, 1952 in Frankfurt, German a son of Maria Reinehardt Powers and the late George Washington Powers. A former resident of Kentucky and the Beaver, PA areas, he had resided in this area for the past thirty years. He was a freight hauler, having driven for PGT Trucking for over thirty years.
He was a member of the New Waterford Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2415. Mr. Powers enjoyed planning the family vacations, especially at the beach. He liked to mow his grass, getting a jump on his neighbors, and afterwards enjoying a cold beer with his friends.
In addition to his mother of East Palestine, he leaves his wife, the former Cynthia Ray, whom he married June 1, 1971. He also leaves two sons, Richard E. (Tina) Powers, Hanoverton and Roger S. (Chrissie) Powers, Mt. Sterling; and a daughter, Anna (Broc) Doran, New Waterford. Mr. Powers also leaves seven grandchildren, Tyler, Celeste, Caden, Landon, Madison, Levi, and Owen, as well as brother, Robert (Diane) Powers, Beaver, PA, and two sisters, Elfreda Powers and Kay Toronzo, both of East Palestine.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home, East Palestine, with Greg Hawkins of the East Palestine Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday and for one hour prior to the time of service on Saturday.
