Earl Leonard Souder passed away on March 12, 2013 at age 87.

He was born July 27, 1925 in Clarkson, Ohio to Ethel (Hole) Souder and Norman Souder.

He attended Waterford High School. At age 17, he enlisted in the Navy during WWII, and served in the Pacific.

After the war, he met the love of his life, Martha Rose Brown, and they were married in 1946. They moved to West Point, Ohio shortly after their marriage.

They had 4 children, Rhonda (George) Rossow, of Ravenna Oh; Dauri (David) Pollard and Craig (Nancy) Souder both of Charlotte, NC; and Bruce (Sharon) Souder from Chicago, IL. They have 11 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

Mr Souder worked at Herriott Trucking Company for 26 years.

His lifelong work however was serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He and Martha devoted their lives to serving others. They were founding members of Madison Trinity Church where Earl served as pastor for 8 years. They spent most of their lives, especially after retirement, working at the local rescue mission, visiting prisons, nursing homes and helping many with transportation to doctors and hospitals.

After the death of Martha in April 2007, Earl moved to Ravenna, Ohio. He continued a life of serving, volunteering as assistant chaplain at Robinson Memorial Hospital and holding weekly bible studies.

The family would like to thank Robinson Memorial Hospital, Robinson Memorial Hospice and his wonderful caregivers in Ravenna as his health declined.

At his request, services will be held at Madison Trinity Church, 13480 Old Route 45 in West Point, Ohio, on Saturday March 16th. Visiting hours will be from 10 to 11 with the service at 11am. Pastor Ted Barnes will officiate. Funeral arrangements were handled by the Nixon Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell, WV.

The family would request no flowers or gifts.

If you were blessed to know Earl and Martha, pass the blessing to someone in need.
