SALEM – Charles Alfred Sanders Sr., 66, of Salem died at 12:50 a.m. Thursday at his home with his family and his beloved cat Precious.
He was born on Sept. 9, 1946 in Carbon Hill, Ohio, to the late George and Rebecca (Leinger) Sanders.
He was employed at Jem Clay as a millright for 10 years in Sebring, Altomare Welding for 14 years in Leetonia, AA Equipment for five years in Leetonia, Dilco Ind for three years in Salem, Lewis Refuge as a bulldozer operator for six years in Salem, and as a self-employed auto mechanic for 32 years in Salem.
He enjoyed going fishing, playing cards, playing pool and bowling.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Ted Sanders, half brothers, Joe and George Giffin.
He is survived by his longtime companion of 30 years, Naomi Wilson; his children, Lora Ann White of N. Benton, Nicole Ann (husband James) Beers Jr. and Charles A. Sanders Jr., both of Salem; 11 grandchildren; a nephew, David Sanders of Salem, one step-niece and six step-nephews, and his beloved cat Precious.
Services will be 5 p.m. Saturday, March 9 at Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Francis Burkhart officiating. The immediate family will hold a private burial at Highland Memorial Park.
A time of visitation will be held on Saturday from 3-5 p.m.
