Patricia Davis

EAST PALESTINE, Ohio – Patricia Davis, 89, formerly of Moore Lane, passed away at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Boardman Campus, where she had been a patient for the past few days.

Pat was born February 8, 1924 in East Palestine, a daughter of the late Angus Patrick and Susanna Call Gillis, and was a life resident of the community. She was a graduate of East Palestine High School, and had been employed as a sales clerk with the former Morris Golden Dawn, and later Rukenbrod’s Market, retiring several years ago.

She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, and the Christian Mothers and the Ladies Aid Society, both of the church. Pat had served as president of Our Lady of Lourdes Study Club for twenty years, and was a member of the Rosary Society, and the former S.A.L.T. team for several years. At the church, she had also served as a Eucharistic minister for a period of time.

Her husband, Arthur D. Davis, whom she married in 1942, preceded her in death in 1953, as had two grandsons, brothers John and Lawrence Gillis, and a sister, Anna M. Gillis-Thompson.

Pat is survived by three daughters, Regina Altenburg, New Waterford, Mary Davis, East Palestine, and Patty Chamberlain, Columbiana; and two sons, A. John Davis, Garrettsville, and Paul Davis, Columbiana, with whom she made her home. She also leaves a sister, Suzanne Hause, Lisbon, and two brothers, Raymond Gillis, Houston, TX and Peter Gillis, California.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15th, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday.
