LISBON – Laverne “Vern” August Kiehl, Jr., 75, passed away Monday, February 4, 2013 at Salem Community Hospital.
Born August 29, 1937 in East Liverpool, he was a son of the late Laverne and Hazel M. (Hoyt) Kiehl, Sr.
Vern worked as an electrician for many years and owned and operated Clearwater Tropic Shop in Lisbon. He later worked as a computer technician.
He enjoyed camping and working on computers.
Survivors include his children William L. Kiehl and Penny (Ron) Coleman, both of Lisbon; 4 grandchildren: Melinda (Troy) Vuletic, Richard Kiehl, Nicole (Josh) Ford, and Ronald Coleman as well as 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
His wife, Barbara (Moore) Kiehl, whom he married December 31, 1957, died in 2009. Also deceased are his sisters Dorothy Barnhart and Betty Dunn and brothers Charles and Clyde Trainer.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Friday at the Weber Funeral Home with Rev. Joanne Dota of Hospice of the Valley officiating. Burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
