LISBON – William R. “Abe” Grafton, 88, of Lisbon, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at the Vista Center.
He was born June 27, 1924, in Wellsville, the son of the late Ralph and Edith (Kochert) Grafton.
Abe graduated from Wellsville High School in 1943. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Prior to entering the service, Abe was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was also employed by the Sterling China Company and the Mike Turk Car Dealership, and he retired from the maintenance department for the Columbiana County Engineers. Abe was a member of the American Legion Post 70, the Lisbon Ruritans, and the Aten Avenue Gang. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He attended the Lisbon First Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Doris (Bodie) Grafton, whom he married June 2, 1948; one daughter: Debra Hinchliffe and her husband Tom of Lisbon; one son: Duane Grafton of Lisbon; four grandchildren: Tammy (Joe) Siefke of Lisbon; William (Jodie) Hinchliffe of Lisbon; Josh Grafton of Austintown; and Erica Grafton of Florida; and five great-grandchildren: Taylor and Trevor Siefke; Aaron and Ashton Hinchliffe; and Alexis Gibbs. Abe also leaves behind his beloved pet: Bella.
In addition to his parents, Abe was preceded in death by one sister: Donna Lashley; and one brother: Richard Grafton.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, January 31, 2013, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Reverend Lou Raymond officiating.
Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
