Virginia Snyder

LEETONIA – Virginia E. Snyder, 90, died at 7:05 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 at St. Mary’s Alzheimer’s Center.

Virginia was born Jan. 16, 1922 in Grayling, Mich., a daughter of William and Edna Andrews McEvers and had lived in this area all of her life.

Virginia was an engraver for Panelmatic in Youngstown and had worked at Giant Eagle in Salem, retiring at the age 80.

Her husband, Robert E. Snyder died in 1962.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (James) Pittman of Leetonia; her son, Robert (Jane) Snyder of Columbiana; five grandchildren, Melissa Baker, Nicole (Lance) Ritchie, Michael Snyder, John Snyder and Joe Snyder; and three great-grandchildren, Landry Baker, Lily Snyder and Hayes Snyder.

Two sisters and four brothers preceded her in death.

Virginia was a member of the former Leetonia Chapter Order of the Eastern Stars and was an avid bingo player.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Leetonia with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. There are no calling hours.

The arrangements were handled by Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.

Memorial tributes in Virginia’s memory may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Brick Restoration Fund or Hospice of the Valley.
