NEGLEY – Mrs. Norma J. McCowin, 72, of State Route 154, formerly of East Palestine, passed away at 3:05 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Kindred Hospital of Heritage Valley Beaver Medical Center, where she had been a patient.
Mrs. McCowin was born July 22, 1940 in Beaver Falls, Pa., a daughter of the late Frank C. and Mary Muoio Policaro, Sr., and had resided in East Palestine until moving in 2002 to Negley. Norma enjoyed her time with her three daughters and her son-in-law, and loved to travel.
Her husband, Garald B. “Jerry” McCowin, whom she married April 8, 1961, preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 2009. Three brothers, Robert, Phil and Richard Policaro, had also preceded her in death.
Norma is survived by three daughters, Jodi McCowin, Wooster, Jill (J.R.) Justice, Negley, and Lt. Col. Gayle Davis, U.S. Army, Baltimore, Md. She also leaves a sister, Evelyn (Ron, Sr.) Riffle, South Beaver Township; and three brothers, Frank Policaro, Jr., Patterson Township, Anthony (Mary Lou) Policaro, Sr., and Albert Policaro, both of Chippewa Township.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home, East Palestine, with Rev. Daniel Cipar officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
