COLUMBIANA – Mary Ethel Dunbar, 91, passed away peacefully at her home in Columbiana on Sunday evening, December 30, 2012 at 9:00 pm. Mary Ethel was born July 28, 1921 in Green Tree, PA, a daughter of the late Mary Ethel (Gamble) Bullions and Charles Schwab Bullions. She spent her youth in Green Tree and Carnegie, PA. Mary Ethel was a homemaker and for 17 years was a first grade teacher at Crestview Elementary School and retired in 1987. She received her bachelors from Kent State, and then earned her masters from Westminster College. Throughout her life she was an avid knitter and many scarves and mittens were gifts for her students. Ethel was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Reader’s Guild and a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church, as well as a Sunday school teacher in Columbiana.
Her husband, Richard S. Dunbar, whom she married May 7, 1941 preceded her in death in 1993.
Survivors include her children, David Allen of Houston, TX, John Charles and wife Emily of Houston, TX, Betty Jane and husband Dick Simpson of Columbiana and Anna Wrask of Salem; a sister, Betty Anderson of Mt. Lebanon, PA; five grandchildren: Eric Wrask, Tracy Muckleroy, Richard Wrask, BetsyAnn Eget, and Edward Wrask.
Two brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2012 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Pastor Carolyn Griffeth officiating. Interment will follow in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1-2p.m. on Saturday.
