EAST LIVERPOOL – Laura Call Kidd, who was associated at one time with her family business, Keystone Printing, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 6:55 a.m. at the Calcutta Health Care Center following an extended illness. “Sis”, as she was known to many, was 94.
She was born in Wellsville on February 4, 1918, a daughter of the late Rev. John Q. Call and Sylvia Hyatt Call. A member of the former Anderson Methodist Church in the area, Sis had moved to Pinellas Park, Florida in 1960, where she worked for many years at the Pinellas Park school district cafeteria. Following the death of her husband in 1983, she returned to this area, where she remained ever since.
While in Florida, Sis had been very involved in the Little League program, and had been vice-president of the local association. She also loved to bowl, and had belonged to the Pinellas County SCORE bowling league. At one time, she also participated in the Beauceants.
Sis was preceded in death in 1983 by her husband, George “Duckie” Kidd, whom she married on January 3, 1939.
Surviving are two daughters and a son: Erla McGurren and her husband, Tim, of East Liverpool; Lorie Sprunger and her husband, Kerry, of Mansfield; and Charles Kidd of Costa Rica.
Also surviving is a brother, William “Pecky” Call of Wellsville, and seven grandchildren: Steve Barton; Sherri Fickle and her husband, John; Michael Barton; Brian Sprunger and his wife, Melonie; Stacey Capell and her husband, Michael; Kenny Coles and his wife, Jodie; and Jason Coles and his wife, Nikki. There are also twelve great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Sis was predeceased by two brothers, Jack C. Call and Elmer “Ike” Call, and a grandson Matthew Kidd.
Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Wednesday, where the family will be present from noon to 1:30 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, with her nephew Rev. Brad Call officiating. Burial will take place at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
