County Sheriff

— Deputies responded to a Vincent Lane home in Center Township at 10:44 a.m. Wednesday where an alarm was sounding. No one was at home and everything appeared secure.

Highway Patrol

–A Penske truck being driven by John G. Horton, 30, of Follansbee, W.Va., became stuck partially sideways on a hill due to the snowy conditions when it was struck by an oncoming vehicle operated by Kevin A. Barnett, 45, of New Waterford. The accident occurred on Hawkins Road in Unity Township at 9:05 a.m. Sunday, and Horton was cited for being left of center.

Columbiana

— Samuel Trejo, 30, East Liverpool, was cited for no operator’s license following a traffic stop on North Main Street at 8:53 a.m. Wednesday.

St. Clair Township

— Officers responded Tuesday to a possible overdose at 48343 Bell School Road, where they reported finding Robert Center unconscious on the floor with Melissa Rodgers overtop of him, trying to awaken him. Rodgers reportedly admitted splitting a $20 bag of heroin/fentanyl with him, which she said they had “shot up” with a syringe about five minutes prior to officers arriving. Officers also reported seeing in plain view in an open drawer syringes, spoons and tie offs, also finding a spoon with liquid and a cotton ball, which will be sent for testing. North Star Critical Care ambulance arrived on the scene, and Narcan was administered to Center, who became conscious and was transported to the hospital. Rodgers was checked by the ambulance crew but declined further medical attention. Center signed immunity paperwork and was advised if he fails to comply, he will be charged, pending outcome of the laboratory tests on the evidence.

— Gloria Landfriend, 86, Calcutta Commons, reported a scam, telling police she had given her Social Security and bank account information to an unknown person on the telephone.

— Officers responded Thursday to the Dollar General on state Route 267 for reports of a male and female fighting and chasing each other around. They had left prior to officers’ arrival, traveling on Annesley toward Y&O Road. Officers stopped their vehicle, and the male went to a residence on Vale Street, while the female got a ride to her residence. They were not identified in reports.

— Bessie J. Smith, 52, Moore Avenue, was turning into Tim Horton’s from state Route 170 when she reportedly failed to yield, striking the driver’s side door of a pickup truck driven by James L. Peddicord, 52, Cannons Mill Road. Smith was transported to the hospital by Lifeteam ambulance, which also treated Peddicord at the scene. He was not transported. Both vehicles were towed by Calcutta Towing. No citations were reported.

— Mohammad K. Zaheer, 39, Dublin, was northbound on state Route 11 just past the state Route 170 off ramp when his vehicle drifted over the fog line where the road was icy, causing it to go out of control. The vehicle went across two lanes, striking a concrete barrier, spun in circles, striking a guardrail off the right side of the roadway. He was cited for failure to control.

East Liverpool

— Dennis D’Itri, Curry Street, reported being the victim of identity theft, saying an unknown person opened an account using his information. The matter was referred to detectives.

— While southbound on state Route 11, Jason E. Herget, 45, Hartville, ran off the roadway to the right and lost control of his vehicle on ice. The vehicle traveled across both lanes, striking the center median, coming to rest on the right side of the roadway. No injuries or citations were reported.

Salineville

— Police responded to the area of Spring Street near Salineville Road where a semi tractor trailer went off the roadway and became stuck at 3:38 p.m. Jan. 25.

— Police responded to a Mill Street, Salineville, residence for a medical emergency at 10:48 p.m. Tuesday. The person was transported by LifeTeam EMS to East Liverpool City Hospital.

— Sheriff’s deputies and police went Wednesday to a North Street address where they arrested Jona French without incident on several outstanding warrants. She was transported to the county jail.

–On Thursday police learned Brandi Taylor, who has an active warrant, was in the area of the residences of the CCMHA on Moore Street. Taylor was taken into custody on the warrant and taken to the county jail.

Perry Township

— Police were sent to the 500 block of West Pidgeon Road at 6:59 p.m. Wednesday for a welfare check on a woman. She said everything was fine.

— Police responded at 1:58 p.m. Wednesday to the area of state Route 344 and Cunningham Road for a vehicle in a ditch, but the vehicle could not be found. The driver called back later to advise they were able to free themselves from the ditch and had no damage.

— William Batton, 59, of Salem, was cited for a stop sign violation after his vehicle pulled out of a private drive and failed to stop at the stop sign, getting struck by an eastbound vehicle driven by Bethany Cianni, 28, of Lisbon, in the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 12:28 p.m. Wednesday. Batton suffered minor injuries and was transported from the scene by KLG. His vehicle was towed by Sinsley’s Towing. The other vehicle was driven from the scene.

— Vehicle car alarms were reported going off in the 1700 block of Painter Road at 6:56 a.m. Wednesday, but were not found.

— Police were called at 11:16 p.m. Tuesday to the 1100 block of Prospect Street for a harassment report. A woman said her ex-boyfriend keeps harassing her via phone because his 21-year-old son is staying at the residence helping her babysit and he wants him home. Due to her receiving several calls from her ex and his family, the son decided he would just go home to relieve the situation.

Salem

— A fire alarm reported at 5:11 a.m. Thursday in the 300 block of Jenning Avenue turned out to be false.

— Police were called at 12:26 a.m. Thursday to a business in the 500 block of East Pershing Street for a male reportedly holding a knife to his throat attempting to harm himself. Officers were able to calm him down and get the knife from him. Fire department first responders and KLG were called to the scene and he was transported by ambulance to Salem Regional Medical Center.

— An audible alarm was reported at 10:52 p.m. Wednesday in the 1600 block of Southeast Boulevard. Police made contact with the homeowner’s daughter who had permission to be there by the homeowner, which was confirmed.
