Salem

— Officers responded to the area of North Lundy Avenue and East State Street at 9:46 a.m. Thursday in reference to a male individual wearing a gray sweatshirt and khaki pants attempting to enter numerous vehicles. Officers searched the area but were unable to find the suspect.

— Kolton J. Smith, 21, and Charity M. Todd, 18, both of Benton Road, Salem, were each charged with domestic violence after officers responded to their home at 9:55 a.m. Thursday where they reported they had assaulted each other during an altercation the previous night. An infant at the home was turned over to a grandmother.

— A 500 block East Seventh Street resident reported at 3:02 p.m. Thursday two thefts occurred in which someone removed delivered packages from her porch.

— Officers responded with medical personnel to a 1200 Eastview Drive home at 5:58 p.m. Thursday in reference to an unresponsive male individual. The individual was found deceased from apparent natural causes.

— A male individual reported on station at 6:53 p.m. that he had been in an argument with another male individual in the 1100 block of East State Street in which the other man shoved him. The complainant said the incident was part of ongoing issues.

— An officer responded to a 2800 block East State Street business at 6:59 p.m. Thursday where a woman was being detained after paying for $76.89 worth of merchandise, but failed to scan and pay for $131.02 worth of additional merchandise. The woman had her 3-year-old daughter with her and could not find anyone to pick her up. The woman was released but advised that she would be charged with theft.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Washington Avenue at 9:36 p.m. Thursday where a driver struck a parked vehicle, pushing it into another parked vehicle, before fleeing on foot.

— Officers responded to a 1200 block Cleveland Street home at 11:54 p.m. Thursday where the resident reported her 16-year-old daughter was being unruly following an argument regarding items found on the daughter’s phone. The daughter claimed that her mother slapped her in the face three times during the argument. Officers told the daughter she needs to abide by house rules. The incident was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review.

— Officers responded to the Kent State City Center on North Lincoln Avenue at 10:32 a.m. Friday where an administrator reported a student expressed concern about another student who had been in a declining mood the past couple months. The student in question was found to be very upset and was transported to the Salem hospital for evaluation.

— Officers responded to a 600 block Olive Street home at noon Friday where a female individual reported she had possibly been sexually assaulted while staying with a male individual the previous night. The man admitted the complainant had stayed at his home, but denied anything had happened. The matter is under investigation.

Perry Township

— Brandon Burwell, 30, Minerva, was cited for assured clear distance ahead following a two-vehicle crash on the bypass at West State Street at 7:03 a.m. Tuesday in which he was northbound and fell asleep, striking the rear of a vehicle driven by Pierre Parfaite, 44, Salem, who was stopped in traffic. A passenger in Parfaite’s vehicle was transported to the Salem hospital for evaluation of injuries sustained in the crash.

— A vehicle was towed from the on ramp to the bypass at 1:25 p.m. Tuesday after having been parked there since the previous Friday. The vehicle was registered to a Youngstown woman under suspension and with an expired registration.

— Police responded to a 1700 block South Lincoln Avenue home at 5:39 p.m. Tuesday where the resident reported her adult daughter was acting out of control. The mother was advised of her options and the daughter was warned against her actions. The daughter declined transport to a local hospital for evaluation.

— Melissa Mills, no age or address listed, was arrested on an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office for theft after officers responded to a 1500 block Grant Street home at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday where a male individual reported finding her walking out of the home belonging to his mother with his mother’s purses and jewelry box. He said she fled on foot after he retrieved the items from her. Charges are pending in the reported theft.

— Police responded to an 1100 block West Perry Street home at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday in reference to child custody dispute. The complainant was found intoxicated sitting outside the residence. She said that the issue had been worked out and her mother had taken her and her children for the night so that her boyfriend could sleep.

— An officer responded to an animal complaint at a 1200 block Andrew Avenue home at 8:18 a.m. Thursday and found a raccoon had gotten tangled up in a fence on the property. A friend of the complainant’s responded with a live trap to help free the raccoon from the fence.

New Waterford

— Officers responded to the 3900 block of West Main Street at 11:29 p.m. Dec. 8 in reference to a suspicious person complaint. The matter is under investigation.

— Officers responded to an alarm drop in the 3600 block of Silliman Street at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday and found the alarm company working on the system.

Salineville

— A West Main Street resident reported at 3 p.m. Wednesday she was scammed out of her personal information by someone claiming to be with Medicare. Police gave her information about the three credit reporting agencies she should check.
