Leetonia
— A report is being forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review for disorderly conduct charges related to a call Tuesday night from a parent upset over an incident at the basketball game Tuesday at the school. The man had used very colorful language regarding an officer who was working the basketball game. The report said he was very vulgar and calling the officer names due to being upset over officers making the student section of Leetonia stop swearing at the referees. The man’s son had texted him saying they were being harassed. One of the referees stopped the game to have officers stop the actions and Superintendent R.B. Mehno was also present and said that officers handled it very professionally. Chief Allen Haueter received a voicemail message from the parent, who was very vulgar toward the officer in question and made claims that he worked at the courthouse and knew a lot of attorneys. Upon checking, Haueter learned the man worked at juvenile court. He noted in the report that the incident stemmed from soccer season when school officials directed the officer in question to have the Leetonia student section settle down during a game. The parent had called at that time, too, with the same complaints.
