County Sheriff

— Brad J. Kaminski, East Liverpool, an inmate at the county jail was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center after injuring his knuckles hitting the glass door in the booking area at 5:11 a.m. Saturday.

— James E. Rush, Gamble Road, Center Township, reported Dec. 5 he believes a contractor he employed stole his tools from a job site on Saltwell Road.

— Donald W. Miller, 55, Yates Road, Salem Township, reported at 2:17 p.m. Sunday his landlord, Kim Pincombe, shut off the power to his home. Miller located the outside power supply and turned it back on. He told deputies it is an ongoing issue with the landlord shutting off his utilities and he believes the landlord is trying to get him to leave without going through the eviction process.

— Gary Bacon, Millrock Road, Middleton Township, reported at 9:18 a.m. Dec. 4, there were animals running at large on his property which is being sold. Deputies found two horses which did not belong on the property. Deputies spoke to the neighbor, John Weaver, who said they were his horses and he has them tied up. Deputies told Weaver to retrieve the horses and keep them on his own property. Bacon arrived and said this was not the first time the Weavers have done this and he wanted them charged. Deputies warned the Weavers this time and told Bacon to call back if there are any further problems.

— Deputies were called to a Beard Road, Unity Township, home at 1:22 p.m. Dec. 4 after a woman called a psych care facility and began making suicidal threats that she was going to drive off the cliff to kill herself. The man at the residence did not know why deputies were there, but said she has not been taking her medication and recently drove off in his vehicle. She arrived back and deputies spoke with her before sending her to a hospital for treatment.

— Joseph McLaughlin reported at 1:29 p.m. Monday he pulled into the driveway on Beard Road, Unity Township, where his girlfriend works to drop off drinks when his uncle pulled out a pocket knife and threatened to slit his throat. He only wanted a report on filed.

— Brian Huff, Winona Road, Knox Township, reported at 7:54 p.m. Wednesday his girlfriend has been living there for three months and he wanted advice on how to remove her from the home.

— A domestic dispute was reported at a Mahoning Avenue, Knox Township, home at 6:17 p.m. Dec. 5, where two brothers were arguing over rent. Quinten Fortner told deputies his brother, Shannon Fortner, was not paying rent and he wanted his older brother removed. Deputies explained how the eviction process works and it would be the landlord who would evict someone, but until then the brothers could both stay.

— The New Philadelphia Police Department requested deputies check on a 17-year-old living on Seigler Road in Washington Township at 11:45 p.m. Sunday. The boy attends the Buckeye School in New Philadelphia, but was suspended on Friday for having drugs with him at school. Then police learned the boy reportedly threatened he would bring a gun to school to use on whomever snitched on him. Deputies spoke to the boy and his father, warning him he is not allowed to be on school property.

— Jessica Styen, state Route 170, East Palestine, reported at 10:46 a.m. Monday she was living with Glenn McMillin Jr, but they were having problems and he showed up Sunday night, took a jar and threatened to throw it through the television. He then turned and threw it toward the kitchen cabinets, shattering the jar, picked Styen up and threw her across the room. As she was getting up from the floor, McMillin’s mother, Karen McMillin, reportedly came into the house, wrapped her arms around her and stripped the phone out of her hands as she attempted to call her mother for help. Styen said the McMillans then took garbage bags from under the counter and started loading up anything they felt belonged to Glenn McMillin or things he bought. She wanted information on how to file for a temporary protection order.

— An alarm went off at the home of Chuck Will, Millrock Road, New Waterford, at 2:03 p.m. Saturday. Deputies checked the home, but did not find anything unsecure. There was another report about a loud explosion somewhere nearby.

— Joseph A. Calderone, Millrock Road, Rogers, reported a loud explosion at 2:08 p.m. Saturday in the area of Millrock and Peace Valley Roads. Deputies checked, but did not locate anything out of the ordinary.

— A domestic dispute was reported at James Drive, Yellow Creek Township, home at 11:25 p.m. Sunday. The male half of the situation reportedly had threatened to do serious physical harm over the phone to Nicole L. Stull, but she did not want to pursue any charges. Stull was found to have a warrant for failure to appear in County Municipal Court and she was taken into custody.

Highway Patrol

— John T. McNicholas, 39, of New Waterford, was cited for failure to control after he drove off the road and struck a fence while driving on Kibler Road in Unity Township at 12:24 p.m. Monday. McNicholas said he was run off the road by another vehicle coming the other way, but he was cited anyway since there was no evidence to support his claim.

— Robert L. Butcher, 29, of Wellsville, was cited for failure to control after he went off the road and struck a fence before going over an embankment while driving on Boyd Road in Yellow Creek Township at 11:27 a.m. Monday.

East Liverpool

— An officer reported seeing a female staggering at 2:54 a.m. on Laura Avenue and said, when he passed her, she immediately turned and began walking the other way. She was located on Huston Street and identified as Mackenzie R. Orin, 26, and seemed to be having a hard time walking, according to reports. The officer reported smelling alcohol and marijuana coming from Orin, who he said had red, glassy eyes. She was found to have a marijuana “roach” which she handed to officers, and a search of her purse reportedly turned up a burnt metal pipe that Orin denied was hers. She was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Liverpool Township

— While following a vehicle on Anderson Boulevard Sunday evening, an officer reported being able to smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from it. He stopped and put down the windows in his cruiser to air out the marijuana smell then caught up with the other vehicle on Parkway, where he reported seeing it go off the side of the roadway and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Tina C. Shaver, 48, Mocksville, N.C. admitted “riding around and smoking some” when the officer advised he smelled marijuana coming from her vehicle. She was patted down with nothing found, then her passenger, Dina Lawhon, 48, Mocksville, N.C., said, “Here, officer,” opening up the glove box and handing him a small metal box containing marijuana and rolling papers, according to reports. Lawhon also handed the officer an empty pill bottle they said had contained pot. Lawhon was patted down with nothing found. A search of the vehicle turned up several “roaches” inside a cup holder in the console. Lawhon claimed ownership of all the drugs and was charged with possession of marijuana. Shaver was cited for marked lanes. Both were released.

St. Clair Township

— Officers responded Monday to the Aaron’s store in Calcutta at the request of North Star Critical Care ambulance employees regarding a possible overdose at the store. The victim, a 36-year-old woman from Wellsville, is employed at the store and was in the ambulance when officers arrived. A paramedic showed officers a photo on a cell phone depicting the woman trying to hang herself, which had been sent to her boyfriend. Officers asked what she had taken and she denied having taken anything, saying a white substance on her lips was “nothing,” according to reports. She denied the photos, saying she did not feel like harming herself. Another employee said the woman came to work two hours late with puffy eyes and with her head swaying back and forth, which is when she called 911. The victim was transported to the emergency room for evaluation. A vehicle registered to her was parked at Bob Evans’ and the driver was a 36-year-old Wellsville resident identified as the victim’s stepfather, who told officers this was not the first time she had done this.

— Devon M. Zubay, 21, an employee of Cheap Tobacco, state Route 170, flagged down an officer to report threats being made to him. No other details were reported.

— Barbara L. Talbott, 82, Spruce Meadows Condos, reported she heard a knock at her door and opened it to find her neighbor, Carl C. Payne, 65, who forced his way into the house, pushing her. She was scared and ran outside to call police. When officers arrived, they found the door had been locked with a deadbolt and no key available. Officers shone flashlights into a bedroom window and saw Payne lying on a bed, and although he would open his eyes when they shouted for him to wake up, he would not get off the bed. His mother arrived and also shouted for him to get up, with the same results, all of which went on for about 30 minutes. A locksmith was called as well as Lifeteam ambulance. Officers entered the house and reported Payne was able to answer all questions put to him but said he was in his mother’s house. After consultation with the law director, Payne was later charged with criminal trespass.

— Richard Fernandez, John Street, reported a woman who had been at his home stole his dog. Officers advised him that, when sober, he should contact the law director.

— Nicole Knauff, Homestead Boulevard, reported her estranged husband keeps coming to her home causing problems, saying he leaves when she calls police then returns.

— Called to Calcutta-Smith Ferry Road for a man attacking a female, possibly with a gun and threatening to shoot her, an officer located Douglas Pridemore, no age or address listed, walking toward a wooded area. He was ordered over the public address system in the patrol car to stop but Pridemore reportedly kept walking until Detective Chris Davis advised he would send his K-9 partner Axel to his location,causing Pridemore to comply. For the officer’s safety, Axel was deployed with him as he approached Pridemore and held him to the ground until Chief Brian McKenzie could handcuff him. The alleged victim, Reva McCullough, no age or address listed, said Pridemore had never shown her a gun and declined to file charges. Pridemore was released.

— Frank D. Fetty, 52, reported someone tried to use his debit card.

— Kiarra R. Cain reported her vehicle was repossessed and was at Three Brothers, St. Clair Avenue. She asked to be accompanied by police officers because she and the owner do not get along, according to reports.
