Police

County Sheriff

— An alarm was reported at a Lower Elkton Road address at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday. Deputies found several houses in the area not marked with the address. They were found all to be secure from the ground level.

— An alarm brought deputies to a Pancake-Clarkson Road, Middleton Township, home at 3:27 p.m. Wednesday where a green car was backed into the garage bay and the overhead door was open. Deputies spoke to the homeowner, who said she was carrying in groceries and accidentally set off the alarm. She had a message on her voicemail from the alarm company, which said not to call back if everything was fine at the home. She was upset the alarm company notified deputies to respond to the home.

— Robert A. Soules, County Club Drive, Butler Township, reported at 4:32 a.m. Thursday there were gunshots coming from the other side of the lake. Deputies did not find anyone.

— Duallen Stanford, state Route 170, Middleton Township, reported at 6:31 p.m. Wednesday he heard someone outside the house. Deputies checked, but did not find anyone. It appeared Stanford was under the influence and about 40 minutes later, Stanford called again to report someone was knocking on his door. Deputies again found no one at his home.

— Nancy Anderson, Sunrise Drive, Lisbon, reported at 2:09 p.m. Wednesday her daughter-in-law, Ashley Anderson, may have used Anderson’s debit card number to get Time Warner to supply cable to her home in Salem. Records indicate it began in November 2017 and continued until recently when Anderson found money was being taken from her account without her consent. Anderson said she confronted her daughter-in-law, who denied being responsible, but then offered to repay the money to Anderson. Anderson said she is working with the cable company, which is in the process of reimbursing her account the $1,323 taken and she just wants her money back and for her daughter-in-law to pay for the services she received. She did not want criminal charges filed.

— Denny W. Briceland, Shelton Road, Salem, reported at 6:41 a.m. Wednesday there was suspicious activity in the area. Deputies found a 2013 GMC Terrain parked in the roadway. It was found to have been stolen from Bethel Park, Pa., The vehicle was towed and the police in Bethel Park, Pa., were notified the vehicle was found.

— Deputies responded to a security alarm at D.W. Dickey’s, state Route 164, Center Township, at 3:40 a.m. Wednesday. Deputies contacted an employee and everything was determined to be fine.

— Breanna Marie Hope Slaven, Millrock Road, Unity Township, reported a domestic situation at 8:33 p.m. Wednesday, but when deputies arrived neither party wanted to file charges.

Highway Patrol

— Eva Louise Channell, 17, North Jackson, was attempting to pull into a parking spot at Kent State in Salem Township at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday and struck a vehicle driven by Emily M. Anderson, 18, Malibu Drive, East Palestine, that was parked next to it.

— Brian Riesen, 48, Cherry Street, Homeworth, was northbound on Knox School Road in Knox Township at 7:25 a.m. Monday and hit a deer and then struck a mailbox.

East Liverpool

— Cierra L. Whaley, 27, Lincoln Avenue, reported she and Dana R. Inherst, 27, same address, argued over using a cell phone and he choked, struck and kicked her repeatedly. Whaley said she was holding a small child at the time and another child was present. Inherst was located walking on Lincoln Avenue and taken into custody, charged with domestic violence. After being informed by the court he had a previous domestic violence conviction, Inherst was charged with felony domestic violence and transported to county jail.

— Paul Headley, Cadmus Street, reported his truck broken into and trashed while parked near his residence.

— Marlene K. Stutler, Bradshaw Avenue, reported the windshield of her vehicle damaged by a thrown object.

Wellsville

— Police were called around 9:39 p.m. Saturday to a Lisbon Road residence. Nothing physical had taken place between Sadie Gamble and Herbert Lockhart. They had split up and Gamble came to get her things.

— Police were called at around 8:21 p.m. Oct. 28 to a Chester Avenue home. Kaelynn Duncan said her boyfriend Kendall pushed and slapped her while the two were on the street. An investigation is pending.

— Police were called at 8:14 p.m. Monday to a home on First Street regarding a man who was supposedly homicidal and threatening to shoot up the McDonald’s on Lisbon Street, across the street from the residence. The call came from a Ravenna woman in regard to her son. Police spoke with the man and his case worker also was contacted. Because of the perceived threat, McDonald’s was closed for a short time but reopened about two hours later.

Salem

— Shawdie Padilla, 30, of 1662 Westview Ave., was charged with assault of an officer, disorderly conduct and harassment with a bodily substance after police were called at 11:32 p.m. Wednesday to the 1600 block of Westview for a well-being check on a female allegedly attempting to enter a house she did not own. Officers witnessed her attempting to gain entry and smelled an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from her. Fire department first responders and EMT ambulance were dispatched to the scene due to her being incoherent and having cuts on her body. At one point, she allegedly sat up and struck an officer across the face. She was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center and spit on another officer while enroute. She was later discharged from the hospital and taken to ail.

— A pair of residents from East Fourth Street came to the police station at 7:42 p.m. Wednesday regarding threats made over the telephone. They were told not to have contact with the person.

— A woman reported Wednesday harassment from a boy she had issues with previously. She said while trick or treating, the boy followed her and her son and made vulgar comments. The boy also made comments of physical harm to her son. She was worried about the incident escalating at future school events. Police made contact with the other boy who was advised of possible charges if the issue continues. Police were attempting to contact a parent.

— Police responded to the 500 block of Continental Wednesday for a woman who believed she was being scammed out of money from her credit card company. Upon further investigation, she was informed about the payment needing to be made every month.

— A woman in the area of South Union and East Pershing reported at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday that a group of juveniles threw an egg at her vehicle and one of them was still in the area. Officers spoke to the juvenile and gave him a ride home and released him to his mother.

— Police responded to the area of North Lincoln and State for a complaint at 4:28 p.m. Wednesday of a black Chevy Silverado being driven recklessly, passing cars in a no passing zone. The vehicle left the area and was not found.

— A caller at 11:38 a.m. Wednesday reported a fight in progress at Speedway, 175 W. State St. Witnesses told officers the males involved got into an argument in the store and then continued it outside but eventually got into separate vehicles and left.

— Police were asked at 10:47 a.m. Wednesday to check the well-being of a female on Prospect Street after a relative was unable to reach her and reported she made some suggestive statements. Officers spoke with the female and determined she was fine.

— Police were called at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday for a traffic violation by a vehicle regarding a school bus. Officers were provided with a description of the vehicle involved and the timeframe when the vehicle came through the area of West Wilson Street.

— A dog was reported at large in the 500 block of Jennings at 6:23 a.m. Wednesday. The humane officer was contacted and retrieved the dog, then officers were able to locate the owner, who was told the dog’s location.

Goshen Police District

— Lisa Squires, 34, Sharon Lynn Drive, Salem, was charged with domestic violence after officers responded to her home at 11:21 a.m. Tuesday where she had thrown a glass cup at her boyfriend during an argument, causing a laceration on his hand. Squires also had a cut on her foot caused by stepping on a razor during the argument, she said. Damascus EMS responded to check on both individuals and once they were cleared, Squires was transported to the Mahoning County Justice Center.

— Corley F. Lamb, 23, North Jackson, was charged with driving under suspension and speeding following a traffic stop at state routes 165 and 45 at 6:14 p.m. Tuesday.

Salem

— Firefighters went at 5:14 p.m. Thursday to the 500 block of East Eighth to check a suspicious container in a residence. The item was a waterline for a refrigerator running through the floor into a plastic container.

— An odor of natural gas was reported at 4 p.m. Thursday in the 500 block of East Third Street where firefighters found a tree limb had fallen and hit a gas meter and broke it. The gas was shut off and the leak stopped. Columbia Gas was notified.

— Firefighters were called at 8:08 p.m. Wednesday to a residential fire alarm in the 700 block of East Fifth, finding that the resident burned popcorn on the stove. A fan was used to ventilate the place.
