Police

County Sheriff

— Doug Illig, state Route 558, Salem Township, reported at 7:36 p.m. Monday a man who was under the influence of alcohol or drugs was standing in the driveway. Deputies found Jamie M. Pastore, 31, Union Street, Washingtonville, who also had a warrant for failure to appear on a child support case and transported him to the county jail.

— Christine Moore, Center Avenue, Center Township, reported at 2:55 p.m. Sunday her ex-husband emptied oil from the outside tank to the house. She told deputies the tank is now empty of fuel and the tank is damaged. She was unsure if it was done on purpose or accidentally.

— Diana Simmons, Circle Drive, Knox Township, reported someone between Friday evening and Saturday evening came into her unattached garage and spilled a large amount of paint. The paint damaged a tool cabinet, the cabinet drawers, benches, the floor and a motor bike.

— Deputies responded to Lisa Lane in Center Township to assist Center Township police dealing with a domestic dispute at 4:51 p.m. Monday.

— The office manager from Tri-County Animal Hospital, U.S. Route 62, Knox Township, reported an ex-employee, Jessica Puckett, has not returned items which belong to the business.

Highway Patrol

— Allen Macarthur White, 64, Moundsville, W.Va., and Alyssa Newton, 18, Homestead Drive, Columbiana, were southbound on state Route 7 in Fairfield Township at 8:48 p.m. Sunday and Newton slowed to make a left turn onto Heck Road and White passed in a no passing zone and struck Newton. White was cited for hazardous zones.

Lisbon

— Police were asked to accompany Kayla Grubb to her mother’s home on West Lincoln Way at 5:11 p.m. Sunday to retrieve her mail and personal belongings.

— Phillip D. Stephens, Pine Hollow Road, Lisbon, was turning from Jackson Street onto East Lincoln Way at 1:50 a.m. Saturday when he hydroplaned on the wet street and into a utility pole. Neither Stephens nor his passenger, Brittany Kolbus of Celina, were injured.]

— An officer on patrol tried to speak with a woman walking along the road on East Lincoln Way at 4:10 pm. Saturday and she became defensive, saying she was not breaking the law. The woman said she was going to the store but refused an offer of a ride from police. A short time later a clerk at the BP station reported the same woman was there giving her a hard time. The officer found the woman drinking a cup of coffee in the parking lot and she again became defensive. The woman said she would be on her way and told the officer her God and King would bring judgment on him and everyone else.

— A caller reported there were people sitting around the county courthouse stairwell at 5 a.m. Thursday, but police did not see anyone in the vicinity.

— Tammy Souders, West Spruce Street, reported that her boyfriend had deliberately swept some items from the mantel at 4:18 p.m. Monday. The parties agreed to stay away from each other for the rest of the night.

Columbiana

— Jennifer L. Fortney, East Duquesne Street, reported at 4:25 p.m. Monday someone purchased something on her iTunes account without her permission. An investigation is ongoing.

East Liverpool

— While on patrol, an officer initiated a traffic stop on Bradshaw Avenue after reportedly seeing the vehicle crossing the double yellow line multiple times. When the vehicle stopped, the driver, Windy A. Moore, 40, Covington, Louisiana, reportedly tried to immediately exit but was ordered several times to get back inside before she complied. The officer learned her license was suspended and K-9 Nero was deployed to sniff the vehicle. He reportedly alerted on the driver’s side door, and Moore was asked to exit the vehicle. She tried to grab her purse and, when told to leave it inside the vehicle, Moore began crying according to reports. When asked what was in her purse worth crying over, Moore reportedly told officers Suboxone, but she did not have a prescription. Officers reported finding pills in a paper fold inside her purse. Moore also told officers there had been marijuana in the vehicle recently, they reported. She was cited for marked lanes, cracked windshield and driving under suspension.

— Steven Griffin, no address listed, reported his 16-year-old daughter Jasmine missing Oct. 13, saying she had stayed with her mother on Dresden Avenue overnight but was gone the next morning. Griffin reported he had spoken to a man on Oct. 14 who said he took the teenager to her ex-boyfriend’s house but he didn’t want her there, so they left. He was taking the girl to a residence in Lake Tomahawk when he learned police were looking for her and turned around to take her to the police station but she got out of the vehicle and began walking, he told Griffin. He said his daughter wears black clothing and has black hair with blue bangs.

— Officers responded to an East Fourth Street residence for an unresponsive 76-year-old man found by his sister, who lives across the hall. Paramedics from ASI declared the man deceased. Police said no foul play was suspected since the man had medical issues.

— While on patrol, an officer drove past the Market Street Lofts and saw a woman throwing a pair of shorts at a man who had a basketful of clothing sitting on the ground. She then went back inside the apartment building. The officer stopped and spoke to the man, Wayne Tookes, who declined to give the name or apartment number of the woman, which the officer learned from the dispatcher, who was aware of a previous incident involving the same people, according to reports. The officer was met at the apartment door by Sondra Vallera, who denied the woman was there, telling the officer he had to have a search warrant to enter. He explained his legal responsibility to check on the well-being of a potential domestic dispute, and she let him in but went to a bedroom closet, looked in and said the woman wasn’t there. The officer checked and found Jessica Morris in a fetal position behind clothing and ordered her out with his Taser pulled. Morris said there had been just a verbal dispute with Tookes. He came and retrieved his belongings and all three were warned that they could have been charged with obstructing official business and to keep their arguments to a minimum.

Liverpool Township

— Officers responded at 2:22 a.m. Sunday to Woodcrest Apartments, Curry Street for a domestic dispute involving Angela Potter and Jordan T. Bess, where they found Potter and several others in the parking lot. A witness advised she had recorded the alleged incident on her phone. Potter reported a verbal argument with her boyfriend, Bess, became physical when he grabbed her cell phone and threw it against the wall, also striking her in the head a couple times. Bess told officers he tried to stop Potter from leaving because she had been drinking and said she punched him in the forehead. Officers reported Potter had no odor of alcohol about her but said Bess smelled of alcohol and admitted having drank three beers. Bess was charged with domestic violence.

Salem

— Firefighters were called at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday to the 2100 block of Pearce Circle for a smoke smell in a home. The problem was identified as the furnace, with the breaker shut off. The homeowner is to contact a repairman.

— Firefighters were called at 5:30 p.m. Monday to Holiday Inn Express, 240 N. Cunningham Road, for a malfunctioning alarm. Management was advised to contact the alarm company.
