County Sheriff

— Peggy Eyard, Peace Valley Road, Middleton Township, reported Sept. 17 her neighbor’s dogs keeps coming into her yard and defecating.

— McKenzie Garrett, Taylor Avenue, New Waterford, woman reported her ex continues to write her on Facebook despite there being a protection order in place.

— Deputies were called to a property dispute at 27507 Georgetown Road, Knox Township, at 5:56 p.m. Friday.

— Deputies responded to a residential security alarm going off at 29801 Georgetown Road, Butler Township, at 4:44 p.m. Friday. No one was home but the home was found to be secure.

— Sara M. Burton, Rose Drive, Center Township, reported Friday her apartment had been entered by pushing out the window A/C unit, but nothing appeared to be missing.

Highway Patrol

— Jack Barnhouse, 52, East Clark Street, East Palestine, was cited for failure to yield after he backed out of a private driveway, striking a vehicle driven by Briawnna Davis, 22, Duke Vodrey Road, East Liverpool, on state Route 154 in Middleton Township at 4:58 p.m. Thursday.

— Kyle Buhecker, 29, of Boardman, was cited for driving left of center after striking a car driven in the opposite direction by Zachary Yoho, 31, Columbia Street, Leetonia, on Kelly Park Road in Fairfield Township at 11:13 a.m. Sept. 16. Yoho was pulling a trailer, which is what Buhecker struck. Yoho went off the road and struck a mail box.

Columbiana

— Terrence Howell Jr., 28, of Youngstown, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on North Main Street at 10:45 p.m. Friday.

East Palestine

— Zoning violation citations were issued against the following properties: 269 E. Main St., high grass; JASAR Recycling, 183 Edgeworth Ave., high grass; 646 W. Martin St., high grass; 48 McClure Ave., accumulated trash; 125 E. Taggart St., high grass.

— Mark Thomkins was cited for driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop on North Market Street at 12:41 a.m. Sept. 16.

— Police assisted county sheriff’s deputies with an exchange of property on state Route 170 at 10:35 a.m. Sept. 16.

— Police received a 911 call about an assault on Thomas Street at 6:52 p.m. Sept. 16. Police found two juveniles arguing over a skateboard but no assault occurred.

— A caller reported there was a man intent on harming himself near the railroad tracks on North Pleasant Drive at 9:54 p.m. Sept. 16. The man was found and transported by ambulance to a local hospital to be evaluated.

— Police responded to a barking dog complaint at 674 N. Market St. at 3:34 a.m. Monday.

— William Hugar, East Taggart Street, reported Sept. 17 a person left a vulgar note on his van.

— Police were contacted Monday by Covington Health about missing money.

— Police found seven high school students using tobacco products on school grounds at 8:14 a.m. Tuesday. The matter was reported to the administration.

— A woman who lives in the apartments on North Main Street reported Tuesday her daughter refused to go to school, but she changed her mind after speaking with police.

— Richard Simons Jr., 18, was charged with criminal trespassing on Tuesday after admitting going into a vacant home with a 14-year-old girl who was reported missing earlier in the day by her mother. Other charges are pending.

— Dorthea Hughes, West Taggart Street, reported Tuesday someone stole her mail.

— Police were called to 21 Park Drive at 7 p.m. Tuesday about a car parked in a spot for handicapped people. Police found the owner and had it moved.

— A caller reported a juvenile was inside Rainbow Dreamland smoking at 6:39 p.m. Wednesday.

Perry Township

— Township officers, along with Salem Police, responded to the 400 block of Benton Road at 9:29 p.m. Friday for a burglary in progress and found the front door of the residence had been recently forced open. Officers made entry and found four people inside the residence, with two of them wanted for active warrants out of Columbiana County. Hope Steed, 20, and Stephen W. Bell Jr., 32, both of Salem, were each taken into custody on the warrants and taken to the county jail. The incident at the residence is under further investigation.

— Police responded at 7:18 p.m. Friday to the area of Cry Baby Bridge on East Pine Lake Road at Egypt Road for a possible tree in the roadway, but no tree was found in the township’s jurisdiction.

— Police on patrol at 12:59 p.m. Friday in the 1600 block of Egypt Road saw several areas of the road had been littered with stones believed to have come from a truck hauling sandstone from state Route 14 to state Route 165. The road department was contacted to remove the stones from the two locations in the township.

— Police spoke with a resident in the 500 block of Brittany Lane regarding an ongoing civil dispute. The resident was told to seek legal help because it was not a police matter.

— A woman reported at 4:24 a.m. Friday that as she was driving by the Allen Road area of state Route 14, she saw a male walking in an unknown direction with a flashlight and what looked like some type of firearm. Township police with assistance from Salem officers checked the area and side streets, but found no one.

— No injuries were reported and no citations were issued after a pickup driven by Pearl McCain, 74, of Leetonia, struck a Columbiana County Head Start bus driven by Karen Mitchell, 56, of Wellsville while turning into a private drive in the 1300 block of West State Street at 3:35 p.m. Thursday. Both vehicles sustained very minor damage and were driven from the scene.

Salem

— Police were called at 2:56 a.m. Saturday to check the well-being of a person in the 1800 block of Southeast Boulevard after a woman said the person told her he wanted to harm himself and wanted to surrender his firearm to police. At his request, officers took possession of the firearm and the man was taken to SRMC.

— A domestic was reported at 1:43 a.m. Saturday in the 900 block of East Fourth Street where officers spoke with the caller and with the person involved. The male half involved said he slammed doors to try to keep his neighbors from making too much noise.

— Police responded at 10:30 p.m. Friday to the Walmart parking lot on East State Street for a report of a large group of people putting flyers on vehicle windshields. The group could not be found and police did not see any flyers either.

— Police checked a residence on Manor Drive for township police due to them being on other calls at 9:53 p.m. Friday. A security alarm indicated a possible burglary in progress. Police were advised a neighbor was knocking on the door to check on the female resident. No response was needed.

— A domestic in progress was reported at 8:28 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of North Madison. A female said her 4-year-old daughter called police after the female had an argument with her boyfriend, who left the residence. The female had a small mark on her upper lip which she said was from the dog earlier in the day. She said there was no physical violence. The male was not located.

— A woman in the 1000 block of East Sixth Street reported at 7:59 p.m. Friday that suspicious persons were knocking on her door. She said several unknown people knocked on her door and when she looked out, all she saw was a large amount of yellow and red balloons. She did not answer the door and they left in an unknown direction. No one was located.

— A Walmart worker at 7:29 p.m. Friday reported another employee witnessed a male and female steal merchandise. They reportedly selected five trail cameras, two SD cards and a camera that mounts to a bow, then they removed the packaging and concealed the items in a purse and left without paying for $761 worth of merchandise.

— A limb was found blocking part of the road on Painter Road west of Western Reserve at 7:29 p.m. Friday. The limb was pushed off to the side of the road.

— A tree fell across Sulea Drive between West Sixth and Seventh at 6:32 p.m. Friday and was able to be moved.

— A suspicious male was reported in a parking lot in the 100 block of Benton Road at 5:38 p.m. Friday, but no one was found.

— Police were called at 5:35 p.m. Friday for a report of a suspicious male yelling and pounding on the bleachers in Centennial Park. Officers made contact with the person who denied the action and appeared ok.

— A woman in the 900 block of South Lundy Avenue reported that she filed a complaint a week ago against her landlord for allegedly striking her in the right side. On Friday at 2:21 p.m. she said he was knocking on the door leading to her apartment and felt that was harassment since last week an officer told him to stay away from her. The tenant said this is ongoing and they just moved in a week ago. She said she had spent a lot of money on cleaning the place up and wasn’t going to put up with being harassed. The officer told her this could be added to the other report from the week before. The officer talked with the landlord who advised he only knocked seeking his rent payment that was due. He advised that the 3rd is the regular date but she moved in and owes now. The officer advised them both good luck.

— An officer on patrol at 2:20 p.m. Friday on South Lincoln by Homestead Lane saw a brown and black medium-sized dog on the west side of the road almost get struck by another vehicle. The officer could not locate the dog.

— Officers on patrol at 1:33 p.m. Friday saw a vehicle parked on the street in the 600 block of Ohio that has been sitting in the same spot for several weeks. Officers tagged the vehicle with a 48-hour removal tag for it to be moved or it will be towed.

— A caller at 1:29 p.m. Friday reported a female passed out on a porch in the 400 block of South Ellsworth Avenue. First responders checked on her and she was just sleeping.

— Police were called at 1:01 p.m. Friday to a parking lot in the 2500 block of East State Street for a dog left in a vehicle unattended. Officers saw all four windows down and the dog appeared fine. A male came up then and said the dog was his. He was told about the complaint.

— A dog was reported at large at 12:08 p.m. Friday in the area of South Lincoln Avenue and Summit Street, but was not found.

— A woman in the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard reported at 10:15 a.m. Friday that she was having problems with a male. She was given advice and told to stay away from him.

— Betty Quinn, 80, of Edgewood Drive, was transported by EMT ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital for injuries after allegedly failing to stop her vehicle for a stop sign while southbound on Penn Avenue and getting struck by an eastbound truck on Columbia Street driven by Jason Satterfield, 42, of Massillon, at 9:28 a.m. Friday. The report said Quinn will be cited for a stop sign violation.

Salem

— Firefighters were called at 6:42 p.m. Friday to the area of East Seventh Street and Sulea Drive for a tree that fell that might have hit a gas line. No hazards were found. The tree was removed from the road and the street department was advised.
