Salem

— Police in the North Lincoln Avenue and East Third Street area at 9:22 a.m. Tuesday observed a small child walking barefoot on the sidewalk and made contact with the parents and advised them the matter will be sent to Children Services.

— At 12:42 p.m. Tuesday, police in the 1200 block of Maple Street were flagged by a person who said their vehicle was egged overnight and requested extra watch.

— At 1:43 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to the 900 block of East Pershing Street where a green, 20-inch boys bike was located and taken to the police department.

— Police responded to Centennial Park at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a vehicle being damaged the previous night.

— At 3:39 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to the 1200 block of East Sixth Street where a student and parent advised that sometime over the 4th of July weekend the student’s Chromebook for school was stolen. The car was unlocked and it was the only thing that was taken. A report was issued to the complainant and the school.

— Police responded to the 1200 block of East Sixth Street at 3:39 p.m. Tuesday where school administrators advised that over the weekend two people were on the roof and caused damage to pipes hooked up to the freezer.

— At 4:13 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to North Howard Avenue and West Second Street where a stop sign was either struck or pushed to lean toward the ground. A note was left for the sign crew.

— Police responded to the 900 block of East State Street at 5:01 p.m. Tuesday where multiple vehicle registrations and paperwork were recovered in the parking lot and taken inside the business. Officers took them to the department lost and found.

— At 9:58 a.m. Monday, police had a complaint from a resident in the 400 block of East Pershing Street who turned in a baggy of pills that were located in a drain pipe in an alley at the rear of the residence. The pills were Ibupropen and placed in the drug drop box to be destroyed.

— At 10:03 a.m. Monday, police on patrol were stopped by a female who said there appeared to be insulin test strips on the ground at the recycling center. Police disposed of them.

— At 3:51 p.m. Monday, police responded to the East State Street and South Ellsworth Avenue area where a tractor trailer hit an Ohio Edison utility pole and left the scene. Police were unable to locate the vehicle and contacted Ohio Edison to check the pole.

— At 5:23 p.m. Monday, police responded to the 900 block of West Pershing Street regarding a custody dispute and the on-duty prosecutor advised that since the child was not in any danger she should not be removed from the home to go back with the complainant and the complainant needed to speak with his attorney to sort out the issue.

— Police responded to the 600 block of Jennings Avenue at 5:32 p.m. Monday where the complainant advised of a missing firearm and didn’t know who took it or when. Information was provided and the firearm was entered into LEADS as lost or stolen.

— At 6:55 p.m. Monday, police responded to a report of reckless operation on North Ellsworth Avenue at the city limits and monitored the area and no vehicle matching the description given was observed.

— At 7:20 p.m. Monday, police responded to Centennial Park where a person was continually honking the horn and disturbing a tennis match. The driver said his friend continued even after he was told to stop. Officers spoke with him and both juveniles were advised that further complaints would ban them from the park. The driver was told to remove the vehicle from the park and did.

— Police responded to the 500 block of Woodland Avenue at 8:25 p.m. Monday for a juvenile problem and found nothing criminal. The juvenile apologized to the parents and the officer for her behavior.

— At 8:57 p.m. Monday, police responded to the 2400 block of East State Street for an unwanted man in the business who was harassing staff members. He left on a bike and the staff said the person made threatening remarks to one staff member, had stolen items and loiters around the store. Police advised the complainant to call if the person returned.

Perry Township

— Police conducted a traffic stop at 7:40 p.m. Monday on West State Street and found Da’zia A. Harris of Alliance operating with a suspended license. He was issued a citation for driving under suspension and his vehicle was towed. A relative picked him up.

— At 8:44 p.m. Monday, police cited Henry J. Miller, lka in Salem, for fictitious plates after police found the registration in the vehicle he was driving belonged to another vehicle. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

— At 9:11 p.m. Monday, police stopped a vehicle for no headlights illuminated at on the bypass and had another vehicle stop with it. The vehicle had no headlights or registration. The driver, Taylor Paxson, was cited for two headlights required and the vehicle was towed away. The driver of the second vehicle, Zachariah Paxson, was found to be driving under suspension and was cited for that.

— Police responded to the 36000 block of Salem-Grange Road at 10:14 p.m. Monday to assist Columbiana County sheriff deputies in making an arrest of a man for domestic violence. Officers stood by while the person was taken into custody.

Fire Calls

West Point

–Firefighters were called to a home on state Route 518 at 9 p.m. Saturday to help a woman who was stuck in her recliner because the power went out.
