St. Clair Township

— Police are investigating a shooting that occurred July 5 at a Gipner Avenue home during what was reported as a robbery. According to reports released Thursday, officers were called to the house about an hour after the robbery occurred and, after speaking with witnesses, learned that a man, Christopher E. Ingram, 35, Harker Avenue, East Liverpool, had been robbed and shot by an unknown black male driving a black BMW. A short while after officers were at the house, Ingram was located at East Liverpool City Hospital with a gunshot wound to his right knee. They reported that Ingram did not cooperate with them in the investigation and fled the hospital before receiving any treatment. The case remains under investigation.

— Giant Eagle officials called to report a shoplifting incident July 27 during which a 35-year-old Irish Ridge man left without paying for three cases of beer and a hot food item. After reviewing the surveillance video, Detective Greg Smith determined the identity of the man, and after gathering statements from employees, he advised them a theft charge would be filed against the suspect. However, Smith reported, he later was advised the store management allowed the man to come in and pay for the items he allegedly took. Subsequently, the man was not filed.

Salem

— Police were called at 1:37 a.m. Thursday to the 900 block of West Pershing Street for a suicidal male attempting to harm himself. He was taken to SRMC.

— Christie Schnader, 37, no current permanent address, turned herself over to police at 12:31 a.m. Thursday on a warrant from the county for child support.

— Police responded at 10:39 p.m. Wednesday to the 1200 block of Franklin where a female wanted to file a report regarding ongoing issues with several people. A man she had not seen in a long time asked another person where she lived. She said he’s an acquaintance of the other people causing her issues.

— A motorist advised an officer at 9:09 p.m. Wednesday about a suspicious male in the parking lot of a business at 2823 E. State St. who was possibly intoxicated. He was not intoxicated and said he would attempt to remedy any issue to prevent further complaint.

— Police were called at 8:51 p.m. Wednesday to Centennial Park for a male ejected from a basketball game who was making threats. Officers spoke to both the male and a park official, affirming there were no threats, however due to him being ejected, he should leave.

— Police and first responders responded at 7:18 p.m. Wednesday to the Broadway Plaza for a man passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle he was driving and struck a parked car. He was conscious and taken to SRMC.

— Police were dispatched at 7:16 p.m. Wednesday to the 600 block of East State Street for a vehicle on the sidewalk, finding a vehicle backed up on the sidewalk in front of Coaches. The owner told police he parked his vehicle on the north side of the street in a parking space and walked up the sidewalk to go to a few stores. He said the vehicle must have slipped out of gear and rolled backwards. There was no damage to the vehicle or any other property. The vehicle was driven from the scene.

— A man in the 900 block of South Lundy Avenue reported at 6:44 p.m. Wednesday that he found drug paraphernalia in an apartment he’s renting out. An officer took the paraphernalia and destroyed it.

— A caller at 5:37 p.m. Wednesday reported two vehicles drag racing in the area of Park Avenue and Ridgewood Drive, but none were found.

— Brian McNeil, 45, of High Street, Washingtonville, was cited for assured clear distance after he rear-ended another vehicle at 4:12 p.m. Wednesday in the 2500 block of East State.

— Police were called at 4:09 p.m. Wednesday to the 600 block of East Eighth Street for a vicious dog complaint. A man said another person’s dog broke its leash and attacked his dog, causing injury. Police spoke to the other person who agreed to pay the vet bills and the man was fine with that.

— A wallet found in the parking lot at Pet Valu on East State Street was turned over to police at 3:37 p.m. Wednesday.

— Police were called at 2:48 p.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of Ohio Avenue with fire department first responders and EMT ambulance for a male who had fallen and appeared to be intoxicated or had some other medical problem. The male spoke no English and was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center to be checked.

— A case of criminal damaging was reported at Hunt Valve, 1913 E. State St., where a caller said sometime in the past few days someone used what appeared to be a BB/pellet gun to shoot out two windows, causing both windows to crack and put a small hole in each one.

— A junk/abandoned vehicle previously cited by the housing department was towed from a residence in the 400 block of East Sixth Street at 2:09 p.m. Wednesday. The housing inspector said the proper paperwork was served and the vehicle had been there with no plates and a flat tire for 12 days with no change.
