Columbiana

— Joshua LeBlanc, 27, Toronto, was cited for driving without a license following a traffic stop on state Route 14 at 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

— Brooke Forrider, address not listed, reported at 12:27 p.m. Saturday she had just backed into a pickup truck in a parking lot on South Main Street near the PNC Bank. She reported that she left a note on the truck before reporting the accident to police.

— A Norfolk and Southern Railroad employee reported at 8:56 a.m. Friday a dog was on the railroad tracks between mile posts 59 and 58. The dog was found near the crossover just south of state Route 7 and was mortally injured lying between the rails. The dog was put down and removed.

East Palestine

— Billie J. Thompson, age and address not listed, was stopped for a traffic violation on North Pleasant Drive at 10:13 p.m. Saturday and a passenger, Richard Kauffman, 34, address not listed, was arrested on an active warrant out of Columbiana County.

— Police were called to a home in the 1000 block of Bacon Avenue at 1 a.m. Sunday for a report of a disturbance between a group of people making different accusations against one another. No charges were filed as there was not enough evidence to support any of the claims.

— A woman reported at 2:34 a.m. Sunday her mother was missing and that she mother had sent her a text message saying “Help.” The woman told police that she couldn’t find her mother at her Park Avenue home and her purse and phone were still there. Police went to the Park Avenue home and was speaking with the woman when her mother returned home and said everything was fine.

— A woman requested at 10:27 a.m. Saturday police conduct a welfare check on her children who are staying with their father. The woman told police she was concerned about the children.

— Someone told police at 12:18 p.m. Saturday a man was drinking beer in village park. The man, not identified in the report, was cited for beer in the park.

— Police were called to the East Clark Street fire station at 9:42 p.m. Thursday for a report that a woman had gotten into a verbal altercation with her boyfriend. Police spoke with all involved and determined no charges would be filed.

— Police stopped Seth Hardy, 19, of Salem, at 10:36 p.m. Thursday who was walking on West Clark Street with a 15-year-old girl along Clark and Market streets. Police took the girl to the police station where she was released to her adult sister.

— A North Sumner Street woman reported at 11:48 a.m. Friday she arrived home from work the night before and found that someone had broken one of the windows at her apartment.

— Police assisted EMS with a man who had fallen from ladder at a North Liberty Street home at 1 p.m. Friday.

— A woman reported at 5:21 p.m. Friday a motorcycle appeared to have crashed behind a guard rail on state Route 170 just south of the village limits. Police found the wrecked motorcycle but no one else was around. Police notified the highway patrol and the man, not identified in the report, was found at a local business. The man admitted to crashing the motorcycle and he was not injured. The highway patrol cited the man for the crash.

— A man reported at 8:10 p.m. Friday a small dog had been found on East Main Street. While police were en route the dog’s owner came and took the dog back home.

— Joshua D. Baker, age and address not listed, was charged with driving under suspension following a traffic stop on South Market Street.

— Zoning violation notices for high grass were sent to the following on Saturday: 248 W. Main St.; 200 E. Main St.; 450 E. North Ave.; and 392 E. Martin St.

East Liverpool

— Garrett Adkins, 25, Maine Boulevard, told police Monday he was sitting in a shed on his property with a female when her husband walked in and began striking him repeatedly in the facial area.The attack caused what appeared to be a broken nose, according to reports. Adkins said the man fled down Maine Boulevard and was last seen going near Montrose Street.

— Jerry Riley, Fenton Street, called to report Crystal Christy was kicking his door after she had been told by officers to stay away. When they responded, officers were told by Christy, no age or address listed, that she just wanted to get her belongings. They stood by as she retrieved her belongings.

— An officer on patrol came across several juveniles on bicycles in the Broadway Wharf parking lot just before midnight Sunday. He told them they could not be out that late without the proper lighting on their bikes and told them to go directly home.

— A Holliday Street resident reported Sunday hearing what sounded like gunshots near Globe Street, but officers checked the area and found nothing out of the ordinary.

Liverpool Township

— An officer sitting stationary on Kountz Avenue saw a vehicle northbound on state Route 7 traveling at a slow rate of speed. He checked the speed with a traffic cam and found it to be traveling 31 mph in the 55 mph zone and also had no front license plate. In an attempt to initiate a traffic stop, the officer activated his overhead lights after it passed through the construction zone, following it until it reached the city limits of East Liverpool, where he began using his siren to try and get the driver’s attention as the vehicle went past the Vista Motel and Westgate School without stopping. At one point, the driver activated the turn signal but failed to pull over, and as it continued on, a city patrolman activated his lights and siren in an effort to get the vehicle to stop. It turned onto the Route 39 eastbound ramp, where another driver pulled across in front of the vehicle, forcing it to stop. The driver, Anna M. Cianni, 74, Commerce Street, Wellsville, told officers she wasn’t aware she was required to stop, according to reports. Her vehicle had traveled 1.2 miles from the time the officer first tried to get her to stop. Cianni was charged with failure to comply with an order of signal of a police officer and slow speed. It was later learned that her passenger, Douglas Cianni, no age or address listed, had an active warrant, according to reports.

Salem

— Police were called at 12:21 a.m. Monday to the 900 block of Salem Parkway for a theft. A woman said the mother of her ex-boyfriend stole her purse containing her personal information, credit cards and cash. She said she’s receiving calls from her ex-boyfriend and his mother regarding the purse. Officers will attempt to contact the suspect.

— A man in the 100 block of Jennings Avenue reported at 4:22 a.m. Monday that he heard voices outside his residence and was concerned because his lawn mower was recently stolen. Nobody was found.

— Police responded at 1:36 a.m. Monday to SRMC where a male patient left before being discharged. Officers were able to calm him down and get him to go back inside the hospital until staff members discharged him.

— A dispute between a male and female was reported at 10:46 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of West 14th Street where a male said he was arguing with his roommate. The female’s daughter, who was not present, had called police and said the male threatened her mother. He said he did not threaten her and he talked to the daughter on the phone a few hours before that. The female told police the male did threaten her if she did not do things he wanted her to do. Both were intoxicated and said they did not want to leave. They were told to go to separate areas of the residence for the night.

— A caller at 9:28 p.m. Sunday reported a male walking around inside a closed business in the 500 block of East State Street. The business was found secure and no one was seen inside the building.

— Police were called at 8:05 p.m. Sunday to the 400 block of Franklin Avenue for a dispute. A man said his mother did not want him at the residence and he got into an argument with another person who lived there. He retrieved his property and was sent on his way.

— A woman advised at 7:53 p.m. Sunday that she lost her wallet at Sparkle Market on South Lundy Avenue. An officer will follow up with the store to see if the wallet was recovered.

— A domestic was reported in the 400 block of Continental Drive at 4:03 p.m. Sunday. A man advised while his ex was picking up their child, he was struck by a male who was with her. Police responded to the 900 block of Elberon Avenue to speak with the other parties involved. Contraband was recovered from the scene while police were speaking with the people. Further investigation and charges are pending.

— A woman reported at 3:35 p.m. Sunday that her previous tenant moved out of her property in the 400 block of South Broadway and the residence was vacant. She said someone busted the basement window on the north side of the residence and also her phone/cable line was cut. Due to problems with the previous tenant, she believes he may be responsible.

Perry Township

— A fight was reported at 3:18 p.m. Sunday in the 1300 block of West State Street at Penn Star mobile home park. The victim said the incident started over keys that belonged to the other person involved and it led to a physical altercation. The other person advised the same. The victim had fresh visible scratches on his neck and chest and police obtained statements from the victim and another witness, subsequently charging Rodney Harsh, 50, of East Liverpool, with assault due to the injuries to the victim. He was taken to jail.

— Shelley Vantuinen, 46, of Mayfield Heights, was cited for failure to control after her vehicle went over the dead-end of the bypass, telling police at 11:08 p.m. Sunday that she was unfamiliar with the area. Police came upon the accident while on patrol. The vehicle was towed from the wooded area.

— Arthur Yoursh, 74, of Pembrooke Drive, was cited for failure to yield after pulling from a private drive onto South Lincoln Avenue and colliding with a southbound vehicle driven by Tasha Lynn Deditch, 34, of Wellsburg Brooke, W.Va. at 1:50 p.m. Friday. Deditch was taken to SRMC for further evaluation. No other injuries were reported at the time of the accident. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

— Joseph Colian, of Colian’s Multi Services, reported at 6:30 p.m. Saturday that someone took two chainsaws from his work truck on Snyder Road.

— Police, along with the Salem water department, Ohio Edison and ODOT, responded to the intersection of Allen Road at Benton Road for a hit/skip property accident at 11:20 a.m. Saturday. A semi tractor trailer cut the turn too sharply from Allen Road onto Benton Road and struck a fire hydrant, causing a water leak that eroded the ground around a utility pole that holds the traffic light for that intersection. Ohio Edison was able to secure the pole to a tree until the Salem water department can make repairs to the hydrant.

— A suspicious vehicle in the driveway with its lights off was reported at 10:29 p.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of Beechwood Road. Police spoke to two occupants in the vehicle who said they were waiting for a friend at the next house over and did not want to block their vehicle. They were told to move along and they complied.

— A disturbance was reported at 9:07 p.m. Sunday in the 1700 block of West State Street. When officers arrived, the homeowners reported a female was intoxicated and trying to leave and they were not letting her. Officers spoke with the female who said she was not going to try to leave again and was getting a ride home.

— Police were called at 2:32 a.m. Sunday to Egypt Road at “Cry Baby Bridge” where East Pine Lake Road dead-ends. The people there were told they were trespassing and left.

— A township officer responded to Prospect Street and Georgetown Road to assist a patrol trooper while he searched a vehicle during a traffic stop at 12:40 a.m. Saturday. Police also assisted on an OSHP search of a vehicle at state Route 344 and Cunningham Road at 12:47 a.m. Saturday.

— A woman came to the police station at 5:15 p.m. Friday regarding ordering an item from a local business in the 1100 block of West State Street, paying for the item and not receiving it yet. The incident is under investigation.

— A woman from the 500 block of Brittany Lane reported at 1:14 p.m. Friday that she lost her wallet containing her personal information cards, a credit card and medical card.

— Police responded at 1:34 a.m. Monday to West State Street for a 911 hangup call, but determined after speaking with the homeowner that it was accidental.
