County Sheriff

— Deputies were asked to check on Bonnie Maynard, Front Street, Negley, reported at 2:29 p.m. Wednesday after her sister, who is in a nursing facility, called and could not reach her. Maynard had been outside working on her flower beds earlier and answered her door when deputies came.

— Nathan Charles Boyd, Austintown, was driving at 4:02 p.m. Tuesday on Chippewa Trail in the Negley area when he approached the tee intersection of Tomahawk Drive, fell asleep and traveled across Tomahawk drive and down an embankment into a ditch. No citation was issued.

— Billie Cochran, Hilltop Drive, Center Township, reported Wedneday her ex-boyfriend, Michael Manypenny, was keeping the children from her. Manypenny told deputies he is not keeping the children from Cochran, but she had left the children from him for about a month. Manypenny said he told her where the children were, but he does not know who the babysitter is going to be for the children yet. He was willing to give the children to her on Thursday.

— Jessica S. Baker, Glasgow Road, Lisbon, reported an ATV complaint at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday. There were no ATVs found.

— A passerby at 45 Social, state Route 45, Lisbon, reported an open door at 7:05 a.m. Wednesday. The door was propped with a cement block with th big fan in front. It appeared the place was left open by mistake, without anyone breaking in.

— Someone reported children playing in the ditch too close to the roadway at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday on North Shore Drive near Westville Lake. Deputies went to speak to the children’s parents about the hazards of this, but could not find the house, which was only described as having overgrown grass, but no address was given.

Columbiana

— Karen Sikora of Columbiana turned too sharp on a cemetery access road at 7 p.m. Wednesday and struck a corner marking stone. Sikora’s vehicle then became stranded on top of the stone and it was removed by a towing company. The stone was put back in place by the towing company and Sikora’s car was not damaged. No citations were issued.

— Jessica Arter, 30, Applesway Drive, Leetonia, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on East Park Avenue at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

— Phyllis S. Rance, 59, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on West Railroad Street at 6:49 a.m. Wednesday.

— Police were called to a report of a private property crash at the Marathon gas station on West Park Avenue at 12:53 p.m. Tuesday between James A. Bacon, 66, Williamsfield, and Ashley Nicole Thompson, 26, Union Street, Columbiana. No citations were issued due to being on private property.

— Clifford R. Witmer, 30, West Garfield Road, Columbiana, was northbound on Fairfield Avenue at the Duquesne Street intersection at 10:18 a.m. Tuesday and attempted to turn left onto Duquesne while pulling another vehicle and a piece of farm equipment and lost control and crashed into a tree on the property of 389 Fairfield Ave causing minor damage to the tree and functional damage to his vehicle. No citations were issued.

East Palestine

— Police arrested Nathanial Black, 19, address not listed, on a warrant from the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office at 6:53 p.m. Wednesday on North Market Street.

— Police were called to the Family Dollar parking lot at 6:20 p.m. Wednesday to check on a man who was involved in a fight. Police found the caller and was told the man had left before police arrived. Police checked but were unable to find the man or the other person allegedly involved in the fight.

— Police conducted a welfare check on a Lyons Avenue resident at 1 p.m. Wednesday after receiving a request. The resident was found to be fine.

— Police were called to the area of Park Drive at 9:26 p.m. Tuesday to check for a small child that had been out riding his bicycle for several hours and was last seen sitting under a tree near a creek.

— The apartment manager for Meadowview Apartments on South Washington Street reported at 2 p.m. May 16 she had a verbal altercation with some former tenants after she confronted them about littering while they were on the property visiting some family. Police provided the manager with the necessary documentation should she wish to serve them with a trespass notice prohibiting them from returning to the property.

— Anna Jones, address not listed, reported at 12:40 p.m. May 16 she has been harassed the past few months by a man driving a tan or gold SUV who frequents several businesses on North Market Street near her home.

— A newspaper carrier, name not listed, reported at 8:48 a.m. Wednesday that while delivering newspapers on McClure Avenue a man he knows began yelling and taunting him from his porch.
