County Sheriff

— A Rauch Road resident in Unity Township reported at 12:08 p.m. Monday sometime between Friday night and Saturday morning someone took his CFI trash can. He needed a report so he could get the trash can replaced by the company.

— Audrey Weddle, Dutchtown School Road, reported someone trespassing at 3:53 p.m. Monday.

— Deputies were called to a state Route 558 home in Salem Township at 4 p.m. Friday for a report of a woman being held against her will. Deputies determined that was not the case and the woman left the home with her brother.

— A deputy was called to the area of Butcher and South Egypt roads at 4 p.m. Monday in response to a shooting complaint. The deputy was notified by a Perry Township officer who had already checked the area, that there were no sounds of any guns being shot.

— A Black Road resident reported at 7 p.m. Monday loud music was coming from a neighboring home near state Route 45.

— A Seigler Road, Salineville man reported at 9:47 a.m. Friday a disoriented woman was walking along Seigler Road. A deputy checked but did not find anyone on or near the road. The caller told the deputy that the woman walked into a home and it was found that the woman lived there.

— A state Route 7, Fairfield Township resident reported at 6:36 p.m. Friday a neighbor removed a property line marker from the property.

— A deputy was called to a home on Desellem Road in Madison Township at 3:43 p.m. Thursday for a report of an alarm going off. Deputies found a child outside of the home. The keyholder was contacted and it was found that the child was allowed to be on the property.

— A deputy was called to the Dollar General on state Route 30 in Hanoverton at 10:26 p.m. March 14 for a report of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. The vehicle left before the deputy arrived.

— Joseph S. Skrinjar, state Route 518, Wayne Township, reported at 6:47 p.m. March 14 his PlayStation 4 and a controller had been stolen from his home while he was gone.

— A deputy was called to Spillway Road in Hanover Township at 8:33 p.m. Thursday for a report that a vehicle struck a dirtbike. The deputy spoke with Anita Cusick who said that she was attempting to turn left into her driveway when she struck the dirtbike that was heading south on Spillway Road. The dirtbike was operated by Brent Banister. No injuries were reported. The crash was handled by the highway patrol.

— David Lee Evans, Hillcrest Road, Wellsville, reported at 2:15 a.m. Thursday he arrived home from work and found his door was kicked in and two TVs, a welder, plasma cutter and computer charger were stolen.

— A deputy was called to the area of Cherry Street in Knox Township at 10:44 p.m. Thursday for a report of a vehicle in a ditch. The deputy found that the driver failed to make a turn in the road and went off into the ditch. The crash was handled by the highway patrol.

Highway Patrol

— A vehicle owned by Sandy Monter, Alliance, was eastbound on Cherry Street in Knox Township at 11 p.m. Thursday and went off the right side into a two rocks then through private property into a ditch and came to rest against a Frontier Communications Box. Troopers are still attempting to find who was driving the vehicle.

— Michele M. Shaw, 27, Middle Street, Homeworth, was eastbound on U.S. 62 in Knox Township at 3:20 p.m. Sunday and struck Kiann Elizabeth Cross, 21, Sebring. Shaw was cited for assured clear distance and taken to SRMC with non-life-threatening injuries. Shaw’s passenger, Brenton Lane, 26, Sharp Street, Salem, was also taken to the SRMC with non-life-threatening injuries. Cross’ passenger, Madison Griffiths, 21, Beloit, was taken to the Alliance hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

— Gary Scott Hooten, 39, Eagleton Road, Lisbon, was eastbound on Eagleton Road in Center Township at 1:28 p.m. Sunday and his vehicle caught fire. No citations were issued and no injuries were reported.

Lisbon

— Andrew J. Smith, 31, State Route 517, Lisbon, Anthony J. Smith, 21, Camp Boulevard, Hanoverton, and James L.A. Radman, 32, Crestview Road, Leetonia, have been charged with assault for a March 11 fight at Shenanigan’s Pub. Andrew Smith had reportedly started a fight with a patron and was being escorted from the bar by bouncer Bryant Nestor when he reportedly struck Nestor in the face. Smith also reportedly struck Scott Holloway in the head when Holloway tried to intervene. Anthony Smith was also being escorted off the premises by Nestor when he allegedly began kicking Nestor in the face and ribs. Radman is also accused of assaulting Nestor. Nestor suffered a bloody mouth, while Holloway sustained a broken nose.

— Marsha Landfried, East Pine Street, reported Monday someone made three fraudulent orders on her Kohl’s credit card totaling $309. The deliveries were to addresses in Atwater and Dayton.

Columbiana

— Albert E. Vanpelt, 74, Fairfield School Road, was westbound on state Route 14 at 10:11 a.m. Monday and was struck by Mary Pasquale, 65, Old Fourteen Road, who failed to yield pulling from the Duke and Duchess parking lot. Pasquale was cited for right of way.

— Columbiana Dodge, Commerce Circle, reported at 1:28 p.m. Monday a part had been stolen from a customer’s vehicle while it was parked at the dealership over the weekend.

— A man requested police stand by while he removed his personal items from a Blueberry Drive home at 10:50 a.m. Sunday.

East Palestine

— Police were called to an Alice Street home at 9:29 a.m. Thursday for a report that an elderly man had fallen and was unable to get up. Police and EMS assisted the man to a chair. The man reported he did not need any medical assistance.

— Police were called to an East Main Street home at 10:18 a.m. Thursday for a welfare check after someone reported the resident did not show up for work that day. Police spoke with the woman, who said she was fine and was choosing not to respond to the caller.

— A Martin Street woman requested at 1:36 p.m. Friday police check on her neighbor after she noticed the neighbor’s dog was on the back porch and the door was ajar. Police checked and found no one inside the home and that the door was accidentally left open. The neighbor returned home, brought the dog back inside the home and closed the door.

East Liverpool

— Officers were dispatched Sunday night to Henry Avenue for possible drug activity, with a caller reporting a red truck with a loud exhaust driving up and down the road. A traffic stop was initiated and driver Anthony L. Wallace Jr., 46, Etruria Street, seemed nervous but denied having anything illegal in the vehicle and gave consent to search, according to reports. He was patted down for weapons, and officers reported asking him several times to relax and stop holding his legs together. Wallace then told them he would give them what he had inside his pants and pulled out a syringe, they reported. He was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments and a windshield obstruction violation.

— Responding Saturday to reports of a male using a blanket to cover his head and possibly carrying a gun, entering Gilkinson’s Short Stop on Avondale Street. Officers found no one fitting that description in the store.

— An officer reported seeing a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on West Eighth Street and followed it onto state Route 39, where it reached speeds of 90 mph, changing lanes, swerving around other vehicles. The vehicle failed to stop for the officer’s lights and siren, running another car off the roadway before crossing the Jennings Randolph Bridge into West Virginia, when the officer was called off the pursuit by his supervisor. Without lights and siren, the officer followed the vehicle into Chester, where he reported seeing a passenger exit and begin running on Louisiana Avenue, with the driver continuing on. Hancock County sheriff’s deputies and state police were able to get the vehicle to pull over and driver Daniel King, no age or address listed, reportedly said his passenger had told him not to stop, possibly because he had an outstanding warrant. King was charged with left of center and reckless operation, with charges pending for failure to comply with a police officer’s order.

— Jenny Olmstead, Avondale Street, reported window broken out of her home.

— Responding to a report of a man down near Catholic Charities on E. Fourth Street, officers found Thomas Morgan, no age or address listed, who told them he had several health issues and had fallen 10 or more times, hitting his head. An ambulance was called.

— Charles Desimone, no address listed, reported his wife had borrowed his car and not returned it. He was advised that, since they are married, she has as much right to the vehicle as he does.

— A man reported seeing a woman beating a child on a porch on Chester Avenue. Officers spoke with the mother, who said her child didn’t want to go to school, and she grabbed him by the arm but denied beating him. The man flagged down officers as they left the home and told them he was transporting children to school when he saw the incident and said it has happened in the past, with a neighbor also telling him the mother allows an older son to beat on the younger son.

— An officer was patrolling the parking lot of the high school and found several vehicles parked along yellow curbs and in no parking zones and issued several parking tickets.

— An off-duty police officer reported a vehicle being involved with drug deals in front of his business on Dresden Avenue, and a city officer saw the vehicle in question leave the business’ parking lot and turn onto Green Lane without a turn signal. He reported the driver had to brake hard to keep from striking a pedestrian, and a traffic stop was initiated on Smith Street. The driver, Georgie Westlake, 23, no address listed, was cited for no turn signal and possession of marijuana after officers reported finding marijuana cigarettes in the vehicle after she gave consent to search when officers reported smelling marijuana. A glass tube used for smoking crack cocaine was also found in the vehicle and will be sent for tests, with charges pending, with neither Westlake nor her two male passengers claimed ownership of the pipe.

— Gage Gough, no age or address listed, reported a man he knows has been threatening him and tried to run him off St. Clair Avenue.

— John E. Garver, no address listed, reported being contacted by an old friend via social media in reference to receiving money from the IRS. The next day, Garver received a call from a man claiming to be an IRS agent telling him if he sent $400, he would receive money owed to him. Garver wired the money to a Carlos Perez in San Jose, California but never received his money and then was contacted again for $5,000, which is when he thought he had been scammed.

— The principal at the high school asked for an officer to stand by while a father came to pick up his daughter, who had just been suspended. The principal told officers the father was making threats when told about his daughter’s suspension and sounded as though he might give school officials a hard time when he arrived. Officers reported having no issues with him.

— Amanda Kiger, Prospect Street, reported a van rented from Enterprise Inc. which she parked across the street from her residence was found struck, with the tail light lying on the ground.

Liverpool Township

— Jeffrey A. Wheeler, 54, W. Ninth Street, East Liverpool, was southbound on Dresden Avenue when he ran over a tree lying in the middle of the roadway. The tree blended in with the blacktop, causing damage to Wheeler’s front wheel, which was bent, causing the tire to leak air, also bending the rear wheel. An officer removed the tree from the roadway.

— While backing her vehicle on Boring Lane, Samantha Meredith, Boring Lane, struck a parked van owned by Multiband Corporation, Akron. There was damage to the passenger side fender on the van and to the passenger side rear fender on Meredith’s vehicle.

St. Clair Township

— Mark Morgan, no age or address listed, reported he was driving on McGuffy Drive when a silver Ford truck flew past, throwing loose gravel up, striking the hood and windshield on his vehicle.

— Officers responded to Pineview Drive for a report of a domestic altercation between a mother and son. The mother said her son has mental health issues and pushed her away from the door. The son said he had not taken his medication for awhile and that during an argument about money, he wanted to leave to cool off and his mother wouldn’t let him. He was transported to the hospital by Lifeteam ambulance for evaluation.

— Officers responded to East Liverpool Road after a “frantic” female called 911 and hung up. They met with Kerry A. McKinley, 45, who said she had an argument with her boyfriend which became physical and the only reason she called 911 was that is the only way her boyfriend will leave her alone. He had left prior to officers’ arrival, and McKinley declined to file charges.

— Employees of Dollar General on state Route 170 reported a man had been wandering around the store using items and then placing them back onto the shelves. They found an empty shirt package, saying that was one of the items the man had asked about. They gave officers a description and possible identity of the man.

— Officers assisted county sheriff’s deputies on state Route 7, south of Beaver Local Schools, on a traffic stop during which Clara A. Easterday, 46, no address listed, was taken into custody on a warrant.

— Responding to reports of a male and female arguing at the car wash on state Route 170, officers spoke with Lacey M. Ramsey, 28, no address listed, who said the male took the keys to her vehicle and left on foot.

— Charles L. Hart, 50, Valley Drive, reported someone possibly trying to break into his home. He told police he heard a noise about 4 a.m. and later found what appears to be pry marks on the window frame and a screen opened about two inches.

— Christopher J. Rose, 23, Jefferson Street, Newell, W.Va., was eastbound on Annesley Road when he struck a mailbox. He told officers he swerved to miss a deer. Rose was charged with failure to control and OVI.

— While eastbound on Calcutta-Smith Ferry Road, Veronica Rodriguez, 38, Indianapolis, Ind., reported hitting loose gravel, causing her vehicle to travel off the right side of the road and into a ditch. No injuries were reported to her or her passenger and no citations were reported.

Wellsville

— Jodi Lewand, a social worker with Area Agency on Aging, reported March 8 a client on Main Street reported to her an aide stole two copper skillets and a three-quarters full bottle of Xanax. Leward said the patient did not want to report the theft, but had to do so by law.

— Barbara Beadnell, Wells Avenue, reported March 12 she had an unauthorized charge of $59 from Western Union withdrawn from her bank account. Beadnell needed a police report and to speak with a fraud specialist before funds would be refunded.

— Craig Allen Baker was driving north on Riverside at about 3:30 p.m. March 13 when he struck three parked vehicles near the intersection of Third Street. Baker was highly intoxicated, and officers found suspected pot. Baker was taken into custody.

— Police were called at around 6:55 p.m. Wednesday to a Commerce Street home for a possible burglary in progress. Officers arrived and met with resident

— Tina Ulchinsky, Commerce Street, reported Wednesday someone entered her home between 11:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. and stole money. She may not have closed her door enough for it to lock behind her when she left, as there were no signs of forced entry. Neighbors reported they may have video of the incident via cameras on their porch.
