— Police responded to a fight in the 200 block of East Main at 1:12 a.m. Nov. 23 where a man said he saw a man slap his girlfriend across the face and he attempted to eject the person from the bar and hit him once because he was combative. Blood splatter was observed on the door and floor along with two holes in the wall smeared with blood, along with blood splatter on the floor next to the pool tables. There also appeared to be property damage. Police spoke with the alleged assailant’s girlfriend who was crying and holding the left side of her face. She was unsure what occurred and refused to press charges even though multiple friends and family claimed her boyfriend struck her, but she was afraid. She said they had lived together about six months to a year. Her boyfriend appeared to be very intoxicated and his face had blood all over it and he said he got jumped by three or four people but didn’t know who they were. Elliott P. McMurray, 233 Court St., Columbiana, was charged with domestic violence and he was non-compliant at the police station, jumping from his seat and lunging at an officer several times. When he was being walked to the cruiser he tried to shoulder-check the officer and he was shoved into the cruiser where he used his legs to prevent the door from closing. McMurray was threatened with a taser and chose to comply. He was taken to the hospital for an X-ray of the head and given medication and transported to the county jail.

— Police making a security check at 3:31 a.m. Tuesday observed lights on in the street department building. The building was checked and the garage was secured.

— At 10:07 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the area of Butcher and Chestnut where a raccoon appeared to be sick. The officer advised the residents nearby that he would be discharging his weapon and the raccoon was killed and disposed of per ODNR standards.

Columbiana

— David C. Carlin, 27, address not listed, was taken into custody on a warrant during a traffic stop on North Main Street at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday.

— Ryan W. Bevington, 40, Columbiana, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on Pearl Street near West Park Avenue at 9:49 p.m. Tuesday. Erin R. Atkinson, 37, Salem, was also cited for failing to signal turns and wrongful entrustment of a motor vehicle. Drug charges are pending on both.

— Police were called to the Dunkin Donuts parking lot on state Route 14 at 3:42 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a private property crash involving a truck and a semi truck. No citations were issued due to being on private property.
