POLICE

Highway Patrol

— Terraine Darla Grace, 18, Masury, was northbound on Columbiana-Lisbon Road in Fairfield Township at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday and went off the south side into a speed limit sign. She was cited for failure to control.

— Kassandra J. DeAngelis, 32, Cleveland Heights, was southbound on state Route 164 in Center Township at 6:10 a.m. Tuesday and hit a deer.

— Wendy K. Sherrill, 44, Alliance, was eastbound on U.S. 62 in Butler Township at 6:10 a.m. Tuesday and stopped for a deer and was struck from behind by Rochelle M. Stevenson, 27, Alliance. Stevenson was cited for assured clear distance and Sherrill was taken to the Alliance Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and her passenger, Nathan M. Pursley, 12, Alliance, was also taken to Alliance Hospital with possible injuries.

Lisbon

–Police were called to the Kendall House at 2:51 p.m. Monday to stand by while a resident was transported to a local hospital for mental evaluation.

–A woman from Brilliant called Tuesday to ask police to check if her husband was at the Days Inn. She said he was fired the day before from his job in Hanoverton and someone dropped him off at the gas station next to the hotel. Police found there was no record of her husband checking in at the hotel, and the wife said she would continue trying to track him down.

–Police were called to Smith Oil at 1:54 p.m. Tuesday in regard to a man who said he did not have enough money to pay for the gas he just purchased. The man left before police arrived after he saw the clerk call the police department. The clerk said the man paid in full before he left.

Columbiana

— A South Main Street woman reported anonymously at 11:11 p.m. Tuesday some people she doesn’t know have been knocking on her door and ringing the doorbell late at night and when she answers no one is there.

— Heather Chase, 36, address not listed, was taken into custody on a warrant through the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office at 5:54 p.m. Monday on North Cross Street.

St. Clair Township

— On Nov. 6, a dolly being used by a delivery truck driver reportedly fell, striking a parked vehicle in the Walmart Plaza, Dresden Avenue, creating a dent in the door, according to a witness. Officers spoke with all parties involved. No additional details provided.

Wellsville

— Dan Bourne, a mail carrier, reported at 12:25 p.m. Oct. 26 that a man and a woman were pushing a stroller and taking a package from a Broadway Avenue home. While searching in the area, officers observed a white man and white woman pushing a baby stroller that matched the description. Officers discovered a brown and blue box under the baby stroller. The woman, identified as Misty Lynn Tice, 34, Anderson Street, Wellsville, said her baby took the package and she didn’t know where it was from. The package was taken from Tice, and she was taken into custody and transported to the police station. There, she wrote in her statement that she saw the package while walking by the residence and took it. She also stated she lied to police because she was scared. The package contained memorabilia from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for a village boy.

— Police were called at 7:40 p.m. Oct. 26 to the Family Dollar on Main Street for a reporter shoplifting. Manager Jamie Dozier told police a known woman was asked to look in her bag after the alarm went off, to which she told Dozier “I always set off the alarm.” When Dozier said she was calling police, the woman used an obscenity and ran out of the store to a gray Chevrolet with temporary tags. According to Dozier, the driver was a man with a red hoodie. A second female had jumped into the back seat. The vehicle sped in the direction of Independence Square. A gray Chevrolet with a temporary tag was located, but when officers ran the numbers through the county Sheriff’s office, it was not found. An investigation is pending.

— Paul Wright, Eighth Street, reported around 3:30 p.m. Oct. 30 he looked where he kept his 9 mm M&P Shield with a full magazine in it and it was gone, along with a full magazine. He stated he last saw it last week but that he had no signs of entry to his home. A stolen firearms report was filled and was to be entered into the computer. An investigation is pending.

— While on patrol around 3:56 a.m. Oct. 31, police observed a blue Chevrolet four-door traveling down Aten Avenue with a headlight violation. A traffic stop was conducted on the driver, Lincoln J. Peacock of Bergholz, on state Route 7 south, to which the officer detected an odor of marijuana. When Peacock was asked if he had anything illegal in the car, Peacock stated “No, and it’s my dad’s car so you cannot search.” Officers ran Peacock’s driver’s license through county dispatch, which determined it to be suspended. Peacock was placed in the back of the cruiser during the inventory of the vehicle prior to it being towed away. That inventory included five individually wrapped bags of marijuana, three marijuana pipes, a marijuana grinder and two bottles of pills with unmatched labels. Peacock was cited for a headlight violation, driving under suspension, drug abuse and drug paraphernalia.

— Police were called around 3:42 a.m. Nov. 1 to a Main Street residence for a possible overdose. Officers discovered Cody Claypool laying on the floor unconscious with labored breathing. Officers administered chest compressions and sternum rubs until paramedics arrived and administered three doses of Narcan to revive Claypool back to consciousness. Claypool was transported by ambulance to East Liverpool City Hospital, and was cited for inducing panic and pending drug abuse.

— Police were called around 5:15 p.m. Nov. 1 to the Family Dollar on Main street regarding a no trespassing request. Manager Jamie Dozier issued the request against a known woman, to which Dozier stated the woman had a lighter to purchase but didn’t have enough money. The female then reportedly went outside, setting off the checkpoint buzzer. Dozier stated that another customer in the parking lot saw the woman dump items in the backseat of her car, and then returned inside, to which the checkpoint did not go off and she paid for the lighter. Dozier said she did not know what was taken from the store.

— Police were called around 7:03 p.m. Nov. 2 to 1130 Main St. regarding an assault. Upon arrival, officers saw James Wilson standing outside the residence waiting. Wilson said the assault actually occurred at the Wells Avenue residence of Deneen Rearly, not at Main Street as dispatched. Wilson said Rearly called Lynda Channels crying and wanted his help. Wilson said he was at work and had to leave early but could leave within the hour. Channels picked Wilson up at work and gave him a ride to Rearly’s home. He then said that when he knocked on the door, Rearly came out of the back door, and after asking her what was wrong, she charged at him and hit him twice with an object, knocking his phone to the ground. He stated he backed up to try to avoid Rearly and she kept swinging and screaming “I’m going to kill you.” Wilson said Rearly’s son had to grab her out of the street to stop her from coming after him, and added that Rearly had accused Wilson of beating his mother up, which Wilson said wasn’t true. An officer spoke with Wilson’s mother, who said that not only was the accusation false, but that she didn’t know where that rumor came from. Wilson said he was hit several times on the left side, to which a lump behind his left ear and redness was observed. Officers found Wilson’s phone and returned it to him. Channels witnessed the event, but did not wish to fill out a statement. Officers then went to Rearly’s residence, to which Rearly stated that Wilson called her names, and she screamed and wish she would have hit him, but did not assault him at all. Further investigation is pending.

— Police were called around 4:10 a.m. Friday to the 400 block of 14th Street regarding a vehicular vandalism. Officers spoke with Maria Abdalla, who stated that a known male struck the rear window of her 2017 Chevrolet Cruze with his fist, breaking the window. Officers collected statements from Abdalla and Sara Dalrymple and documented the damage to the vehicle. Charges are pending at this time.

— While on patrol around 10:27 p.m. Tuesday, police observed a black Honda four-door traveling on state Route 7 north with a loud exhaust and no license plate light. A traffic stop was conducted on the driver, William S. Horvat Jr. of Dillonvale, on state Route 7 north past the Aten Avenue on ramp. Horvat told officers that he did not have a driver’s license. Horvat’s name was put through county dispatch, to which the officer was advised he had a felony warrant out of Harrison County. Horvat was taken into custody, and an inventory search was conducted prior to the vehicle being towed. The inventory included a marijuana pipe, aluminum foil tear-offs with suspected crack residue and an unlabeled pill bottle also with suspected crack residue. Horvat was cited with a muffler violation, license plate light violation, driving under suspension and drug paraphernalia. The female passenger was taken to the police station to wait for a ride.

Perry Township

— A woman called at 8:22 p.m. Tuesday to report her daughter lost her driver’s license somewhere between the police department and their residence on Countryside Drive. Police will contact her if the license is located.

— Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Liberty Street at 12:54 a.m. Tuesday for a requested followup from a previous incident. A landlord requested a civil standby because she didn’t feel safe walking to her neighboring rental property to retrieve keys that were in the mailbox due to her previously past evicted tenant. Police stood by until the landlord retrieved the keys, but made her aware that police do not do civil standbys. Police had been called to the 1100 block at 3:42 p.m. Monday for a neighbor dispute between the landlord and tenant. The tenant said she was in the process of moving out due to an eviction notice and had until midnight. She said the landlord, who lives next door, was coming over and harassing her while she was gathering her belongings. Police had spoken to the landlord and told her to let the tenant get her belongings so she could leave.

— Police were called at 6:23 p.m. Monday to the 1100 block of Somerset Drive to check on an elderly female. Upon arrival, she was found in need of medical attention. Fire department first responders and KLG Ambulance responded and she was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center.

— Julie Grubber, 58, of Salineville, was cited for failure to yield left turn after her northbound vehicle on the state Route 45 bypass attempted to turn west onto state Route 14 and she failed to see a southbound vehicle on the bypass driven by Freddie Rodriguez, 62, of Salem, striking his vehicle. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Rodriguez was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center by ambulance. Police were assisted at the scene by township firefighters and Goshen Police.

Salem

— A caller at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday reported an intoxicated male stumbling in the area of Papa John’s Pizza, 1015 E. State St. Officers located the man on Rose Avenue and noted his motor skills appeared ok and there were no signs of him being unsteady on his feet.

— A woman in the city reported at 1:25 p.m. Wednesday that she rented her basement out to a female the past 10 months and the female moved in a boyfriend eight months ago but he moved out a couple of days ago. She doesn’t want him returning and requested information. She was told the eviction process, but also that it’s probably not needed since he voluntarily moved out.

— Suspicious activity was reported at 11:22 p.m. Tuesday on Vine Avenue where an anonymous person allegedly heard two people talking in the hallway about narcotics. Officers made contact with the two people in question and no narcotics were found. They were also checked for warrants before police cleared.

— An officer at 11:06 p.m. Tuesday saw a male who appeared to be stumbling in the 100 block of Ohio Avenue. He was advised to go back to his friend’s residence and not go outside for the remainder of the evening.

— Possible shoplifters were reported at 7:36 p.m. Tuesday at Giant Eagle, 2401 E. State St., but the males left before police arrived.

— During a traffic stop at 7:18 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of South Ellsworth Avenue, K-9 Simon was deployed for an open air sniff of the vehicle and probable cause yielded suspected contraband. Items seized will be sent for testing. The driver was given a written warning.

— A woman on South Lincoln Avenue called at 1:44 p.m. Tuesday regarding possible identity theft or unauthorized account by her ex-husband, saying it may have happened in Akron. She said she received a notice from a credit collection service recently that said she owed over $60 for a car insurance bill that had not been paid. She said in her court papers, the ex-husband was supposed to take care of this towards the settlement and their agreement. The credit collection company told her to file a police report.

— Eric Scott, 32, of Bellefonte, Pa., was cited for expired registration and possession of marijuana after a traffic stop at 1:11 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of West State Street for a registration violation. K-9 Simon was deployed and indicated to the presence of a narcotic odor. The contraband was recovered from the vehicle.

Leetonia

— Police responded to the 300 block of Somer Street at 7:28 p.m. Monday regarding a female who possibly overdosed after taking a large amount of prescription medication. She was unresponsive and and EMS evaluated her and were advised she did take “the bottle” of Klonopin. The person was uncooperative and an empty bottle of the described medication was in plain view. She said she was not going to the hospital initially and was advised due to the high amount of medication that she injested she needed to go to be transported to the hospital immediately. When it was realized she would not go willingly EMS personnel and police and assisted her to to the ambulance and she was transported the hospital in Salem.

— At 8:26 p.m. Saturday, police spoke with a resident in the 200 block of Ridge Street regarding threats he had received after his ex-wife advised him she owed another person $10 and if she didn’t pay by noon Sunday, that her kids will no longer have a man to call dad anymore. The complainant asked for extra patrol around his residence.

— At 7:53 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the high school for an alarm in the cafeteria. After a search for unauthorized people in the building, maintenance staff advised that a door had been malfunctioning.

— Police on patrol in the Washington Street and Main Street area at 4:03 a.m. Saturday observed lights on in a building. A door to the wood shop was left unsecured and dispatch contacted the owner who requested that police search the building and no one was found.

— Police responded to the 200 block of High Street at 5:21 a.m. Nov. 2 for a report of a male having general weakness. EMS personnel had responded and advised an ambulance was dispatched.

— Police responded to the Chestnut Street at 8:15 p.m. regarding a stolen vehicle. the complainant advised it was stolen between 8:30 a.m. and 3:42 p.m. Nov. 1. Medication was recovered by the vehicle owner while cleaning it after it was returned. The bottles were traced to a person who was contacted by phone. The person denied knowing anything about the vehicle and the medication that was recovered was stolen from him previously. Throughout the phone conversation the person was very uncooperative and ultimately hung up. Police attempted to verify that the medication was stolen through the Akron Police Department and they did not have an open case regarding stolen medication and the department’s last report on the person was in 2014.
