County Sheriff

— Kenneth Criss, Darlington Road, Negley, reported at 8:22 p.m. Saturday his 50-year-old son, Kevin Criss, took his vehicle without permission. He declined to press charges and was concerned the son had made threats to drive the vehicle through a store front or go to an address in Lisbon to assault someone he knows. On Monday, another deputy driving an inmate to an appointment at County Mental Health was approached by Kevin Criss, who admitted he was driving a vehicle he stole from his dad’s home. He was talking in circles and not making much sense. The deputy checked for warrants and stolen reports, but did not find any. The deputy then escorted the inmate inside for the appointment and called for Lisbon police to come speak to Criss. Later in the afternoon Kenneth Criss reported again his son had taken his vehicle without permission on Saturday. An unauthorized use of a motor vehicle charge was filed Tuesday.

— Jennifer Miller, Sell Road, Lisbon, reported at 8:55 p.m. Monday, someone told her that her mother-in-law was taken into the woods by Monte Mackall, who reportedly had a gun, was intoxicated and did not permit her to leave. Mamie Sell was there when deputies arrived and told them Mackall came to her home wanting to talk, so she went with him in his truck into the hickory grove. She said at no time did Mackall threaten her and he did not have a gun, but he was intoxicated. Then Mackall took her to his house. When her grandson got to Mackall’s house, he took Sell back home. Deputies spoke with Amanda Mackall, who Miller said had told her about the alleged kidnapping, but she said she did not say Sell was kidnapped and believed Miller only assumed the worst because of past family history.

— John Petrich, East Main Street, East Palestine, reported at 10:45 p.m. Monday Todd Kirtley damaged his vehicle when he was at Kirtley’s home on Metz Road to return a drill and light Kirtley had left at his home. Kirtley told Petrich he owed him $200 and Petrich offered to give him $100 on top of the $300 he had already paid him. Kirtley then reportedly got upset, went outside, got a large crowbar and threatened to cut Petrich in half with it. Petrich told deputies he jumped into his 2011 Ford truck and tried to leave, threatening he was calling the police. Kirtley then allegedly told Petrich “go ahead, I have a gun for them.” Kirtley repeatedly struck Petrich’s truck with the crowbar before he could get out of the driveway. He wants to pursue charges.

— Terry Berresford reported that at around 4 p.m. Sunday a four-wheeler driven by Harry Steele hit Berresford’s vehicle while it was parked at the State Line Tavern, East Taggart Street, East Palestine. Someone at the bar yelled for Steele to stop and he did. Berresford said he believes the damage to be about $1,500 to $2,000. He believes he and Steele can work things out, but he wanted a report on file.

— Randy Perino, owner of Lock 24, reported at 6:04 p.m. Sunday one of his server’s sons was out in the yard and was struck in the forehead with a golf ball. Deputies spoke to the 9-year-old boy with his mother. He said he was in the yard near the corner of the building when he looked up and saw a golf ball flying toward him and it struck him in the center of the forehead. Perino said he has had other problems with golf balls being driven across the road and into the employees’ cars. Deputies spoke to Collin Houlette, 21, and several others across the street. Houlette said they drove golf balls up onto the bank behind the garage, but never toward the Lock 24 across the street. He claimed there are tense feelings between Perino and him. Deputies explained a child had been struck with a ball coming from the direction of the garage and the actions need to stop before someone gets seriously hurt.

— A Lowmiller Road, Minerva, man reported at 1:59 p.m. Monday he found out his 14-year-old daughter has been receiving inappropriate Snapchat messages.

— Mark Altomare, Union Ridge Road, Rogers, reported a suspicious woman walking around the area at 11:26 a.m. Monday. Deputies found Marjorie Miller, who said she parked her car somewhere off state Route 46 and had been walking since Sunday evening. Deputies called her roommate, who said she would come and pick her up.

— James Matthews, Latta Road, East Palestine, reported at 9:17 a.m. Monday he is the executor of the estate of Kevin Byers and there were three vehicles at the home which were going to be auctioned. However, about two weeks ago he notice the vehicles were not on the property. He asked Steven Byers where the vehicle were and he claimed someone stole them and he reported it to the sheriff’s office. Matthews told deputies two of the vehicles did not run and the one that ran was not road worthy. None had license plates.

Lisbon

— A caller reported a deer had been struck by a vehicle on state Route 164 at 5:40 a.m. Tuesday. An officer arrived to check on the deer, which jumped up and ran away despite having what appeared to be a broken leg.

— Police were called to the county mental health center at 9:20 a.m. Sunday and spoke with Kevin Criss, who said his father had reported the vehicle he was driving as having been stolen. Police ran the vehicle through the system and learned it had not been reported stolen.

— A Subway employee reported at 9 a.m. Sunday there was a drunken man who had passed out at a table about two hours before. Police identified the man as Mark Burton and saw an open bottle of vodka sitting at his feet. Burton, 66, was escorted back to the police department, where he was cited for having an open container of alcohol in public before being given a ride to his home on West Lincoln Way.

Columbiana

— Police were called to state Route 14 near County Line Road at 2:36 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a van fire. The fire was extinguished before police arrived.

— A woman requested at 11:59 a.m. Monday police escort her to a home on Fitzpatrick Street in reference to an eviction order she has for the tenants that were living there.

— Blair Lang, age and address not listed, was westbound in the Village Plaza parking lot at 10:31 a.m. Saturday and his vehicle broke down resulting in it scraping a utility pole causing minor damage to the pole and functional damage to his vehicle.

— Nickolas Perez, 25, Columbiana, was arrested for domestic violence, menacing, obstructing official business and resisting arrest following a physical confrontation with female family members in the 300 block of Firestone Avenue at 11:53 p.m. Friday.

— Darren L.A. McDole, 20, Canton, was arrested for violating a protection order following a traffic stop on east State Route 14 at 4:39 p.m. Friday.

— Gregory S. Daniel, 35, East Liverpool, was arrested and charged with assault following a fight with a co-worker at Vari-Wall Tube in the Industrial Park on Wardingly Drive at 8:18 a.m. Friday.

East Palestine

— Police warned Cole Sloan, 23, Carbon Hill Road at 12:22 p.m. Monday on Park Drive for following a woman with kids in the playground of the park.

— Earl Strohecker, Lyons Avenue, reported at 2:59 p.m. Monday someone stole two gas cans and a container of change from his property.

— Tamara Zimmerly, East Taggart Street, reported at 4 p.m. Monday items were missing from her dad’s warehouse.

East Liverpool

— A male caller not identified in reports said his live-in girlfriend had taken a handful of Xanax. Officers arrived at the Pennsylvania Avenue residence to find the woman, also not identified, sitting on the bed, incoherent. She was transported by ASI ambulance to the hospital.

— Responding to reports of a woman screaming for help on Wilbert Avenue, officers spoke with tenants, who said they were arguing over household chores. They were advised they needed to be done for the night. Neither tenant was identified in reports.

— Don Weyand, Mapletree Street, reported two men broke into his rear door, which he had nailed shut, taking his 42-inch TV, an Xbox system and games. He was able to provide officers with a nickname of one of the two men.

— Dawn M. Stull, Pennsylvania Avenue, reported her boyfriend’s brother had been at their home, causing problems, and they wanted him to leave. He had left prior to officers’ arrival.

— Kim Davis, St. Clair Avenue, reported her juvenile daughter was acting up and refusing to listen. It was decided by everyone involved that it would be best if the juvenile went to stay with a friend, and she was transported by officers.

— Greg Todd, no age or address listed, reported he was walking on St. Clair Avenue when a male and female drove up and started yelling and threatening him over an old drug debt. Todd told officers the male, whose name he knows only as Dakota, hit him in the forehead with a brick. He did not know the female. Todd did not want to pursue the matter and declined medical treatment from the ambulance crew that responded.

St. Clair Township

— Chelsie R Wright, 31, North Hollywood Drive, was stopped on St. Clair Avenue, waiting to turn left when her vehicle was struck from the rear by a vehicle driven by Justin T. Blasdel, 16, Harvard Avenue. No injuries or citations were reported.

Liverpool Township

— Bob Whitehead, Lantern Court, reported he inadvertently left his day planner and cell phone on top of his vehicle and drove off to work. His family members walked up and down Shadyside looking for the items with no luck. Patrolman Michael Boyd suggested he check with the city police department to ask if it had been turned in and local buy-sell-trade sites to see if it was being advertised. Boyd drove down Shadyside and located Whitehead’s planner but not his cell phone.

Wellsville

— Aaron M. Clark, of Columbus, reported Saturday his car’s mirror was struck while it was parked on Clark.

— Police were called at 10:25 p.m. Sunday to Independence Square. David and Amanda Wright wanted a female neighbor arrested for beating on the door and entering without permission. Mr. Wright said he told the woman he would call police after she had been playing loud music and told her to lower the volume because his child was sleeping, and that their neighbors just had a newborn baby. Officers went to the neighbor’s. She said couldn’t locate her ID and also refused to give officers her name.

Salem

— Police were called at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday for a dispute on Rose Avenue where officers found a large group of people. Officers learned there was an altercation with someone and that caused a screaming match between all of the people involved. One of the persons involved who took off was located and he was advised to stay away from the area.

— Christian Candle, 22, of West Garfield Road, Salem, was cited for hit skip/leaving scene after hitting a parked car in th lot near Hibbetts, 2350 E. State St., at 11:42 a.m. Tuesday. The other vehicle was owned by Jean Ohlin, of North Lima.

— A man on West Sixth Street reported at 10:47 a.m. Tuesday that he inherited a gun that he did not want. He gave it to police.

— Butech Bliss, 550 S. Ellsworth Ave., reported Tuesday the company’s credit card security had been compromised and an unauthorized purchase had been made on the account for $1,434.

— A caller at 12:21 a,m. Tuesday reported what appeared to be a small child standing on the corner Third and Lincoln with no adults around. Police found the person to be an adult.

— Jacob Miller, 33, of 228 Vine Ave., was taken into custody on a warrant for failure to appear on a child support charge after police were called to the 200 block of Vine at 6:52 p.m. Monday for one to be removed from a residence.

— Sarah Pagani, 35, of East Third Street, was cited for improper backing after backing from a property in the 1700 block of East Third into a parked car owned by Jarrod Sturgeon, of East Fifth, at 6:16 p.m. Monday.

— A woman in the 600 block of East Perry Street reported a possibly burglary at 4:18 p.m. Monday. She told police her neighbor’s front door was broken and open. Officers checked to ensure the home was empty and secured the door.

— Marlin Yates, 19, last known address was Woodsdale Road, Salem, was cited for failure to yield after a two-vehicle accident at 2:47 p.m. Monday with a vehicle driven by Donita Watkins, 47, of Beloit, on East State near Walmart.

— Karen Menough, 56, of Edgewood Drive, was cited for assured clear distance after her vehicle rear-ended one driven by Denise Stewart, 59, of West Fifth Street, who stopped to make a turn into a private drive at 2:07 p.m. Monday.
