Police, May 11, 2014

County Sheriff

– Clifford Westover Jr., Pine Hollow Road, Lisbon, reported at 10:52 a.m. Saturday his bedroom window was up, and when he pulled down the window, he discovered a fist-sized hole in the window along with broken glass on the ledge. He reported, however, no items were missing from his trailer.

Highway Patrol

– Cylee J. Bowersock, 24, Oak Drive, Wellsville, was traveling north on Fredericktown-Clarkson Road in Middleton Township at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday when she went off the right side of the road, struck a culvert, ditch and utility pole before overturing onto the vehicle’s roof. Bowersock was taken to Salem hospital for minor injuries and was cited for failure to control.

– Kenneth McQuiston, 21, Middleton Road, Columbiana, was heading north on Kelly Park Road in Fairfield Township at 5:40 a.m. Tuesday when he ran off the right side of the road and hit a sign. He was cited for failure to control.

– Shane A. Harris, 31, Lincoln Street, Salineville, was traveling west on state Route 39 in Yellow Creek Township at 6:13 p.m. Tuesday when he went off the right side of the road and struck a wired fence and utility pole. Harris was cited for failure to control.

– Eric C. Swaebly, 39, Massillon, was heading east on U.S. Route 30 in Center Township at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday and attempted to pass four commercial vehicles in a passing zone when he swerved to avoid a vehicle, heading west, and traveled off the left side of the road and struck a mailbox before he overturned in a ditch. Swaebly was cited for improper pass.

– Brian L. Bell, 22, state Route 45, Wellsville, was traveling north on state Route 7 in Madison Township at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday when he hit a deer.

– Jonelle R. Rose, 41, West Washington Street, Lisbon, was traveling west on state Route 30 in West Township at 10:52 a.m. April 26 and was slowing for traffic ahead when she was rear-ended by Benjamin E. Leasure, 25, Murray Avenue, Minerva. Leasure was cited for assured clear distance.

Columbiana

– An open window was spotted on the north side of the Columbiana Pump building at 2:04 a.m. Friday.

– A telephone wire was reported down at 8:58 a.m. Friday along County Line Road, and the telephone company was notified.

– Victoria Cinski reported at 9:17 a.m. Friday she was abused by her husband, who was in Sparkle market at the time. It was later determined the offense occurred in Canfield.

– Criminal mischief was reported near the rear side of the Columbiana Pump at 9:50 a.m. Friday, and then at 10 a.m. at the Columbiana Boiler.

– Police from Chester, W.Va. requested assistance at the Cashland at 1:20 p.m. Friday to check on some property for an investigation.

– A set of keys, discovered in front of the post office, were turned in at 11:45 a.m. Friday.

– A infant boy was reported unattended in a vehicle at 3:09 p.m. Friday at the Columbiana Library.

– A speaker wire was reported down at 10:06 p.m. Friday on South Main Street near Primitive Gatherings.

– Excessive noise was reported at 11:06 p.m. Friday near Shellabella’s, where customers were hanging around near the front entrance talking loudly.

– A female was reported by Highway Patrol at 11:56 p.m. Friday walking east on state Route 344, and was later spotted at state Route 344 and state Route 11. Her ride did pick her up.

Salem Township

– Roger Tullis, Perry Grange Road, Leetonia, reported at 8:50 a.m. Friday someone ripped his mailbox out of the ground, possibly with a chain, and dragged it down the road, where he found it.

– William McFarland, old state Route 558, Salem, reported at 4 p.m. Friday an unknown person pulls into the driveway every day and sits there suspiciously, and on one occasion talked to the woman next door.

Salem

– Roy Culbert Jr., 48, of 487 1/2 E. Seventh St., was cited for driving under suspension and fictitious plates after a traffic stop at 4:28 a.m. Saturday.

– An officer at 3:21 a.m. Saturday stopped a vehicle for traffic offenses at East State Street and Vine Avenue and learned both the driver and passenger were wanted on warrants out of Columbiana County related to theft charges. The male driver also had a small amount of marijuana in his possession. Chase May, 28, of 7720 state Route 9, Hanoverton, was cited for a minor misdemeanor for possession of marijuana and taken into custody on a warrant for failure to appear for complicity to theft. His passenger, Chantel Shuman, 22, of 36537 Orchard Court, was taken into custody on a warrant for failure to appear for theft.

– A domestic was reported at 2:50 a.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Vine Avenue where both a male and female claimed to have been assaulted by the other. No injuries were consistent with either of their statements. The female was under a no contact order from the court with the male from her arrest for domestic violence on April 27 at the same location. She was given a courtesy ride to her mother’s home and told a report would be forwarded to the court. The male was told the same.

– A credit card recovered at Circle K, 1125 E. State St., was turned over to police at 1:12 a.m. Saturday and placed in the police lost and found.

– A clerk at Smith Oil reported at 3:57 p.m. Friday that a female in a blue Caravan left without paying for $10.13 worth of gasoline.

– Police responded to an unknown 911 call at 1:28 p.m. Friday in the 500 block of Columbia Street where they learned a husband and wife were having an argument. Due to a language barrier, little information could be obtained. The report said everyone reported they were okay.

– Police were called for excessive trash at a residence in the 700 block of South Lundy Avenue at 1:13 p.m. Friday. Trash was found on the side and in front of the residence, with attempts to make contact unsuccessful. A warning tag was left for a junk vehicle in the drive, with information to be turned over to the housing department.

– A woman from West Fourth Street reported at 1:08 p.m. Friday that her ex-boyfriend was making threats to her.

– An open door was reported in the 700 block of East Third Street at 9:51 a.m. Friday. The owner of the apartment said they closed up the building Thursday night. Officers checked and secured the building.

– Police responded at 3:13 a.m. Friday to the area of North Ellsworth Avenue and Eighth Street for a suspicious male attempting to enter vehicles. He was not found.

– Shannon Bevis, 27, of Monroe Street, was cited for improper backing after he backed his pickup into the front of a legally parked car owned by William Dinsio, whose last known address was listed as Monroe Street, at 7:25 p.m. Tuesday.

– A reckless, possibly intoxicated driver was alleged in the 1600 block of South Lincoln Avenue Tuesday evening. The vehicle was located at a residence and an officer made contact with the male driver who did not appear intoxicated.

– A man reported at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday that another man spit on him in the 2100 block of Southeast Boulevard. He said he was picking up his children when a verbal altercation occurred with the other man who then spit on his back when he turned around to leave. He returned to the police station later with a text message in which the other man admitted to another person that he spit on him.

– Rachel Davis, of Rogers, reported at 4:58 p.m. Tuesday that someone scratched the passenger side of her vehicle while it was parked in the 500 block of New Garden Avenue.
