Fanatics of the flea market coming to a screen near you

ROGERS — Last year camera crews descended on the Rogers Community Auction with the hopes of capturing a new reality TV show that would highlight the joys of flea markets and those who frequent them. The visit was successful and “Flea Market Fanatics” was born.

Now, the production company responsible for the filming of show has announced that it has found an outlet for the new series on Amazon Prime Video.

Hollywood Top Productions began filming in 2018 with a casting call for “Flea Market Fanatics” at Rogers Flea Market, also known as the Rogers Sale, and hundreds of people turned out to showcase their talents.

Filming continued throughout the summer and included special guest appearances by NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame fullback Larry Csonka and WQED Pittsburgh film producer Rick Sebak, comedian Jess Faulstich, artist Gail Trunick, recording artist Candace Campana, Braydon Bowyer the “chicken boy” and Judeye the hula-hoop girl, whom can all be found in Season 1, which is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime, Director Steve Swanson said.

Hollywood Top Productions and Rogers Community Auction Inc. are co-producing the show.

“Working with Amazon Prime Video has been a learning experience. Steve Kreider and I both have worked in the entertainment business but neither of us had completed a project of this scale. It’s exciting not only for us but for everyone who was part of the show. We get to highlight some amazing local talent to a global audience,” Swanson added.

Kreider is owner of Hollywood Top Productions and a Waterford, Pa., native who retired from the Army in 2013 after 25 years of service.

Since his retirement, he has worked as a producer on “Duck Dynasty” and the Army reality show “Starting Strong.” He also consulted on the film “Pitch Perfect 3.”

“We wanted to make an original show and you can’t get more original than Rogers Flea Market. Our relationship with Amazon Prime Video gives us a great opportunity to have our work distributed across the globe,” Kreider said in a press release.

Swanson said the seven episodes that make up Season 1 highlight the “fascinating people who truly love the flea market experience as much as we do.”

The show was filmed by CINEMANIX, a local Youngstown creative studio and Ryno Productions out of Aliquippa, Pa. Website services were provided by Canfield’s iSynergy and Website Design USA.

Additional content that didn’t fit into the show format is featured on the show’s website, FleaMarketFanatics.com

“We’re working on and looking forward to Season 2. This part of Ohio is a really special place. It would be fun to dive a bit deeper into the lives of the cast members. From Braydon Bowyer our chicken expert, to artist Gail Trunick, to the music of Candace Campana we have found some great stories to tell. We certainly are thankful to have them as part of the show,” Swanson said.
