Salem man arrest after fleeing police in New York

SALEM — A Salem man led New York police from multiple agencies in a chase through two counties before crashing his vehicle.

According to reports from WFMJ Channel 21, Daniel Elliott, 45, was pursued by police after he failed to stop his pickup truck for a minor traffic offense in Olean, N.Y.

The chase continued for 36 miles through Allegany County and Cattaraugus County, and included police from several law enforcement agencies, WFMJ reported.

Police apprehended Elliott back in Olean when his truck crashed in a hospital parking lot.

WFMJ reported that Elliott faces charges of methamphetamine possession, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to comply with an emergency vehicle, speeding, failing to use a signal, operating a vehicle without insurance, passing a red light, failing to keep right, failing to use a designated lane, and seat belt.

He could face more charges from the sheriff’s department, the report said.
