Second suspect in jewelry heist in custody

Gue

CALCUTTA — The second suspect wanted in connection to the March 2018 break-in at Kay Jewelers in the Summit Square is in custody, facing numerous charges.

St. Clair Township Detective Greg Smith reported Thursday that Michele G. Gue, 46, Dayton, was picked up and is incarcerated at the Miami County Jail.

Gue is charged with engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, complicity to breaking and entering, complicity to possession of criminal tools, complicity to vandalism and complicity to theft.

She is suspected of waiting in a vehicle outside the jewelry store, keeping watch as suspect Kevin J. Ashley, 46, Dayton, allegedly cut through the ceiling of the jewelry store and stole nearly all the store’s merchandise, picking him up in a vehicle.

Ashley is allegedly Gue’s boyfriend, who is also now incarcerated for engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, breaking and entering, possession of criminal tools, vandalism and theft.

During the investigation into the break-in, officers reported discovering that Gue’s cell phone “pinged” from the cell tower on nearby Irish Ridge Road at the same time the store was being robbed.

St. Clair police have commended the collaborative efforts of 12 different law enforcement agencies which led to the arrests.
